The motorcycle was traveling about 12:12 a.m. on Sahara Avenue just west of Sloan Lane when it struck the south curb near the right travel lane, moved to the sidewalk and struck the objects, police said. The motorcyclist, whom police did not identify, was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died. LAKE MEAD Two die in accidents at recreational area Two men died at the Lake Mead National Recreational Area in separate incidents, one from a boating accident Friday and the other from a motorcycle accident Saturday. National Park Service officials said they were notified of a boating accident near the Swallow Cove area about 4:40 p.m. Friday. Witnesses told rangers a boat crashed into a cove by a shoreline and sank, a park spokeswoman said. Rangers suspended the search at 7 p.m. Rangers, boating volunteers and Las Vegas police personnel resumed the search Saturday morning. Las Vegas police divers found the victim's body near the sunken boat, the spokeswoman said. He was identified as Randy S. Jordan, 60, of Las Vegas. On Saturday, emergency personnel received a call about a motorcycle crash on the Callville Bay access road. Rangers and park volunteers arrived at the scene of the crash about 10:35 a.m. The victim and his motorcycle were found in a ditch just off the road. The victim, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

At commander's call today they mentioned that one of the motorcyclists killed was a Nelllis troop. It's the one from Callville Bay. His name was Sgt. Ted Everidge. The memorial service for him is tomorrow, Tuesday, 4 March at 1000 atthe Nellis Main Chapel. Initialy reports say alcohol and speeding was not involved. So sad to hear for all the riders. R.I.P

Investigators later determined a new motorcycle had been stolen from a local business. The owner of the shop said the motorcycle required some assembly after being removed from a shipping crate and that would have taken at least an hour. | |
