What is the current punishment for a DWI on-base? I know when I was in you stood a good chance of getting the boot.

NOt anymore unless you are a total fuck up.... But in most cases it is a Letter of Reprimand, extra Duty, suspension of driving priv on base for a year.. And in some cases a demotion..... Deduction from pay can also happen.... But it is looked at on a case by case..... I have only seen peeps receive the boot for multiple offenses.... | |

| It's not too far removed from that school of thought though. Now, even if the only blemish on your record is the DWI, you still run the risk of being pushed out of the military by being denied re-enlistment. Unless you are an exemplary performer that has proven him/herself both before the DWI, and after, and only have that one incident in your records, you most likely will be allowed to fulfill your service committment, but you'll be out the door shortly there after

Forgot to mention the chance of nt getting your CJR for reenlistment.... R3K is absolutely right..... Your job in the military also plays a big part..... Right b4 I was retired, we had a troop get a DUI and she could have stayed in, they never thought to give the troop the boot..... She had other problems on records (Fake ID's) and that played a big part in how much they made her life miserable....... I honestly think it went the way it did because she was the best Air Traffic Controller Nellis had at the time (Tower).....

Well I know that if I were to get a DWI my rank would drop to the lowest level prabably forever and you get that great extra duty like moving sand bags from one end of the barracks to the other...Each commander would be different but all the same. We loose more troops to vehicle accidents than we do over seas at this point. (so says the got risk posters)
