I was having a convo with a friend (yes I have one) yesterday about FIM and Moto GP...... And w got to talking about the Ducatis and their new 1098. Now, what came up was about the Displacemet entitlements based on the engine format, and what kind of advantage they have....... I was wondering, if any of the major manufacturers backed out of series would that really effect their sales....... For me, I have never based bike purchases on Race success, I mean, I am totally a Suzuki man, and they don't really compete on a consistant basis in Moto GP, but I still like them...... What do you guys think? | |

I believe if you're a Big Four manufacturer, you owe it to your customers to compete in MotoGP. I like the idea of trickle-down technology. To answer the question directly, I don't believe that their sales would be affected dramatically if they pulled out of any race series. Hell, people still buy Buells... right?
