The other day as I was heading North on Rancho going under the 95, I saw a Can-Am Spyder that had gotten off the freeway and was turning left. Looked badass. I need to get one for Leslie.

I Ride: a jet
I saw one in Newport Beach a few weeks ago... at every redlight, people were asking the guy what the hell is that thing.

Looks like a jet ski with wheels. Still pretty bad ass though..For those who can't or don't want to drag a knee, that would be awsome. I didn't read the whole article, did it say the price?

$15000 isn't too bad, thats actually what I paid for my Boulevard after my service plan. Guess it's better than the $60,000 price tag of the T Rex

Exactly. And there's a $1,500 option to have auto shifting.

The only drawback is that the brakes are activated only by the rear brake foot lever (linked F/R) on the right side (same as bike). No hand brake lever on the right bar. So if you are going through a left-hand corner and lean too far off the inside of the bike (ball of foot on RH peg), there might be a chance that you cant get to the brakes if you need to grab some mid-corner (which you can do on this, not on a bike). So you would have to control speed with throttle. Not a big deal for a bike rider, we wouldn't be grabbing brakes mid-corner anyway.

They said it will roast the rear 165/50-15 tire in a straight line, but Traction Control keeps you from drifting it sideways on pavement. A cool feature, but I'd ry to disable that.

I'm seriously gonna look into this thing.

And it's got a 44L (1.5cf) trunk, reverse (5 forward gears), and a parking brake. Cool shit for $15k

Quote:
Key among them is the Stability Control System. A computer or three takes info from the lateral and yaw sensors to determine if the rider is getting over his or her head. Wheel-speed sensors and the handlebar angle are figured into the equation, then the SCS brain can brake any of the wheels individually to regain control, augmented if necessary by a reduction in engine output.

Similarly, the Traction Control System uses sophisticated circuitry to make sure the only donuts in the Spyder package are in the massive 44-liter under-hood storage compartment that is big enough for two full-face helmets. At least the electronic nannies allow for amusing tire-smoking launches in a straight line (see the accompanying video).

Stunters might want to do some disconnecting of the finger-wagging ECUs, but they still allow a fun and oddly satisfying scything of a curvy road. Yet another system, Dynamic Power Steering, keeps steering effort relatively light, and it varies according to vehicle speed and the forces put into the handlebar. The system works, offering immediate responses without twitchiness.

And when you’re entering that corner, you’ll appreciate a muscular braking system that consists of four-piston calipers biting on 260mm discs at all three wheels. There is no hand lever, so you’ll want to get familiar with the foot pedal in the typical right-side location. Its high placement forces a rider to raise his foot before stomping on it, which isn’t ergonomically ideal. A parking brake is found near the left footpeg.

Oh wait, I don't have to brake with my right hand. Hmm....
