One of my biggest dislikes about my full face is that it does not flip.... I'm one of those that need to smoke and ride. Kinda hard with the full face.

Now if I am going to wear a helmet for protection, I am going to protect my whole face and not just the skull. Besides, I look like a dork in those half helmets... LOL.

I have been thinking of getting a flip up and was wondering if you can still ride with it flipped up. Maybe not highway speeds, but surface streets up to 45mph.

Thanks in advance for the info

I have a helmet that flips up and you can ride at slower speeds with it up, almost the same as having the visor up on a regular helmet. As far as smoking while your going 45, the cherry tends to fly off, NOT GOOD!!!

I have a couple of Nolan flip face helmets... I don't smoke, but I liked the convenience of them when I was riding to the base and the guards would have me remove my helmet to verify ID...

You can def ride with them flipped up at decent/moderate speeds..... But riding with them up is not recommended by any of the manufactures. But it def can be done. FTR they can be slightly louder (wind noise) than a conventional full face.

Not with the way I pack them. ;)
Worse thing with me is sometimes I'll get a couple sparks on the face.

ars0n750 - you keep sending me to 702... you trying to tell me something? am I not getting the hint?

Yeah, kinda figured there would be noise with it up. Just flipping the visor up on the full face will get real noise.

I had my visor up a bit on the freeway one day, I turn my head to check traffic, the wind catches the visor and I see it floating down the freeway behind me. Where is was a 20.00 fix, I am sure that if that bottom piece fell off the flip up, it would be a bit more to fix.

Thanks for the info

Just messin with ya... That last bit of advice you gave worked out real well...

It takes me a while to get comfortable with new boards. I have one post over there, had two but one got removed... and I have a warning already... bastards!!!... LOL! I think I told you about that one.

Even here, with the few posts I have, it's still a bit uncomfortable... only because I still don't know a lot of people here yet. It has nothing to do with anyone here or the board... it'sa me thing. It's getting better though.

I guess if I had a sport bike it wouldn't be as bad, but I have a sport cruiser and live in AZ so I kinda feel I have no business posting in these forums.

So far everyone has been great and I try to make good posts to contribute to the board. I can be a post whore at times, even had one board tell me I post too much... Guess I'm use to the adult boards I use to hang on where things move so fast you can hardly keep up with what's going on....

Ooops, starting to babble... LOL.

+1

I also have a Nolan helmet.
Great when the heat kicks in.
You can just flip it up at stop lights or other stops so you don't drown on your own sweat in there.

But then flip it back down once you start moving again.

This one has an added convenience of a blue tooth module integrated into the helmet.
Syncs to the cell phone, and also to other helmets like it for bike to bike or driver to passenger full duplex communications.

I hate that shit Jerry. I tell them, "Fine, you want me to take the 5 minutes of holding up the line taking my gloves/lid off, then I'll do it." Most times they said that I didn't have to. But every once in a while you get that one asshole that won't take the time to look at your eyes and compare against your ID. I even would show them my Hospital ID too as another form of ID, and sometimes they just want to be a dick.

I did it very slowly... If I was in a bad mood, I made sure I went through the main gate during the rush and moved as slow as possible.... I would get off the bike and dod so... When they questioned why I was getting off, I would hit them with, if I am on a MC I must have on all protective gear so I need to get off and turn of the bike to do so.... I did this on occasion when I had on the flip face as well..... Eventually they got the point......

I also have the Bluetooth capable one... I have yet to take it out of the box.... I haven't really ridden 2 years.. But after having one of these helmets I will never go back to full face unless I start doing track days again...
