If that was me, that guy in the car would have been on the ground as soon as he put his hands on me. Right or wrong, but when these idiots in their cages (especially if they are on a cell phone) cut me off, pull out in front of me, or cause me to change my path or speed in any way when I have the right of way, I let them know about it. Calmly, but I let them know that they could have caused a serious accident.

Nothing more frustrating than having someone cut you off, you use your horn and they flip you off like you're at fault.

I guy pulled that s**t on me on the 405 one time. I left him laying in the carpool lane snoring with a broken driver's side mirror and window. I was expecting to get a call from the CHP, but never did. I guess he figured he'd have to explain why he got punched out.

Element of surprise. As soon as he comes up to your face yelling and screaming about how he got the right of way. Give him a closed fist to the face. 100% he will shut up.

What a pussy!!! The cager shoves him and he does nothing but stare him down. I'd be scared of that. Anyone that starts a fight by shoving is someone who really doesn't want to fight to begin with. I'd have knocked his ass out.

Its easy to say "I would have..." but alot of times you try to be a tough guy and you end up staring at the business end of gun. And then who is the tough guy? The guy with the gun, thats who. I would suggest at that point you start calling him "sir". You dont know if someone is carrying a gun or not.

This was also a good example of how you dont win a fight with a car. Its best to just shrug it off and leave, the whole thing could have been avoided.

The only way to win a confrontation is to avoid the confrontation.

Violence should be the last resort.
If more people thought that way the world would be a much better and evolved place.

Very true. In most cases I would also shrug it off. I had a gun pulled on me when I was in high school by a 65 year old dude that cut me off, and I pretty much learned my lesson.

In the incident I described above I was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic in a construction zone, and the cars were too close to split between. He was behind me and tried hitting me with the his van several times. When traffic stopped completely, I was cornered. No choice but to fight. I didn't want him near the bike so I jumped off and met him at the front of his astro van. He shoved me just like in the video, and came back with a haymaker to the temple with my carbon knuckles. He hit the ground snoring. I was so filled with adrenaline I went after his buddy who had locked the doors. So I broke the driver's side window trying to get to him, but then came to my senses. I punched the mirror off and got back on my bike.

By that time the traffic was moving again except for the people around us watching. I took off and almost looped out because I was so hyped up.

But usually it's the bird, and I ride away.

*EDIT* - besides I'm a pussay, I have a glass nose...

Yes alot of people carry guns but who's to say it's not the guy on the bike carring..Also, most people who carry guns are afraid to use it anyway!!

True that Freddy..BUT, if the cagers would look out for the bikes, this type of situation wouldn't be happening!!!

I think the majority of cases could have been avoided by simply keeping a better distance from possible obstacles.

The issue of people in cars not paying attention will never change.

So, the only option is for riders to be more cautious...leave more buffer space between them.

If you see someone coming out of a cross street, assume they did not see you, and take appropriate measures (slow down, move a few lanes over, etc...). Dont ride in blind spots, dont tail gate, dont run way above traffic flow speeds in congested areas (any of those cars can switch lanes in front of you unexpectedly)...slow down when crossing an intersection(even if you have the green light) if you can't see the cross traffic stopped on all lanes on either side.

Riders need to be like Mad Max out there and fend for themselves.
Nobody is going to do it for us.

I had a girl in a civic merge directly at me into my lane (near Eastern\Windmill) and damn near run me off the road. When we got up to the next light I was pissed and pulled up next to her ready to kick her mirrors off- when I realize it is this really cute girl, and she rolls down her window and says "I'm SO sorry- I didnt even see you". I was shocked by her attitude- since most people will just tell you to fuck off even after they almost kill you. I was like, "Hey- sorry is more than I get from most of these people that try to kill me." I almost wanted to ask her for her number while I was at it...

Shit, I just drive down the roads here in Vegas and get pissed off. It's not just stupid people when your riding a bike, it's just stupid people period that don't know how to drive, or they are too busy on the cell phone. In New York we would never hit our horns we just give them the middle finger and hope they would stop so we can cuss them out.

The worst thing I remember about driving in Vegas are all the tourists that travel casino to casino. Not knowing the area, maybe a few drinks under their belt... not a good combination. Just being in a car scares me there, I can just imagine being on a bike there.

I tip my hat to you guys that ride it often, or even at all.

I don't know if we still hold the record or not, but Vegas had the record for the highest # of pedestrian deaths due to idiots walking out into traffic. "Ooh, look at the pretty lights...SMACK"

I like the overheads they put in... those are cool. I love not having to cross traffic on the strip, priceless. The monorail is cool too.... I had fun on that last time I was there. It was nice to be able to drink and not have to worry about getting around or high taxi fares.

shit, getting homesick

LOL
