The Shoei's are light to me, also the KBC's as well, but all 4 of my helmets I have are HJC so that may be why

The brand isn't quite as important as the type/line of helmet. Any of the "racer" helmets are going to be lighter than a regular lid. Case in point... a Shoei X-11 (Shoei's top-of-the-line race helmet) is lighter than the Shoei RF-1000. Same with the Arai Corsair (another "race" helmet) as opposed to the Arai Quantum. Check out this site for some great info (they list weights) on helmets AND a great selection:

Home | Helmet Harbor

I've ordered from Helmet Harbor and the customer service is decent.

More importantly is to find one that fits your head correctly. With no pressure points. I wear a Shoei RF-1000, but none of the Arai's fit my head right (at least the ones I have tried). And it seems to be true for most. You'll hear about someone having either a Shoei head or a Arai head. When you find one that fits your head perfectly, stop looking. Hopefully it won't be an expensive one. I went to Cycle Gear and tried on all their lids. Once I found that the RF-1000 fit my head, I shopped eBay and got my lid for less than half retail price.
