Yep... he leaned right into the truck. I'm betting it was a combination of target fixation (hence the lean into the truck) and going a bit too fast for his skill set.

Damn, he's lucky! If that truck was just a second later, he would have been a hood ornament....

DAMN!!!

I think that slamming broadside into the suv altered his riding position, but yes, target fixation was at fault.

I almost did the same thing 6 years ago, it was a couple months after getting the FZ1. I was coming back in from Red Rock and fixated on a car coming around a corner the opposite direction. It had rained earlier and the roads were wet. I was leaned over in a RH corner (but not far enough) and was quickly working my way towards the center line and into the oncoming car (which I was staring at). I was a split-second away from ditching it, and when I took my outside foot off the peg it shifted my weight enough and leaned it through the corner. I have never been so scared. But it taught me a valuable lesson. Trust your tires, and look through the corner.

There was no reason for him to bee that far over to the left in that turn. I thinks a rookie mistake just added pain and suffering to the consequence. This guy need to go back to school.

Oh Yah...better gear would have helped a lot

Most of us have blown a corner before. Just luckily not when there is an oncoming auto.
