My friend is looking at a 2005 Yamaha FJR with ABS and 18k miles on it, no warranty, for $7350. He is going to have it inspected tomorrow afternoon at the dealer, and if the dealers says it looks good, he will probably buy it. Do you think this is a good deal? Just seems high from my view, for an 05 with that many miles, but I dont know the FJR that well. Anyone here have any FJR knowledge they can chime in on? Thanks in advance.

thats actually not too bad of a deal. the mileage for a 1300cc touring bike is slightly below average actually. assuming it checks out, i would say its a decent deal

Cool - thanks for the info. Some more details about the bike - New tires, valves adjusted 5000 miles ago, fresh oil and filter, Rifle tall windshield with tuning block (important) footpeg lowering kit (which will be removed)

i would definitely suggest a fork brace for that un-inverted suspension though.

Suggested Retail Value $8635 The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions. ALL I COULD FIND. | |

That seems like a pretty decent deal. I never got a chance to ride Gleno's, but he raved about it. And after we did the suspension on it, he said it was like a new bike. Maintenance is straightforward and there's a ton of aftermarket stuff available.
