At CES Les & I saw a great new product. It's an electronic tinting faceshield. The company doesn't have pics on it's site (AlphaMicron, Inc.) but they do have a PPT slideshow ( http://www.alphamicron.com/site/html...s_20051020.pdf) that has these pics of different faceshields.
They also make them for ski goggles, sunglasses, and I am sure anything else that you would want tinted.

Is that Nick in the rainbow helmet?

It looks as if the shield starts out with a bit of tint already... is that so, or do they start out clear?

It looks like it has a slight tint to it.

They also have a piece that lays on the inside of a stock clear shield that tints with a push of a button. So you can use it with any helmet.

I should have taken a bunch of pics there, but dood told me that the pics were online. The ones above are the best ones they got.

very cool.

as far as the appearance of a slight tinit to start, I wonder if it is just reacting to the bright lights of the exhibit hall?

When we saw the ones on display, they did have some color to it. But they had different colors, so I think that they have colored shields, then when you hit the button, they darken.
