I've never had any real riding boots, the ones I have now either Freddy or Pat are about to steal them from me anyday now (don't hate!)

So before they do here's a few choices I'm looking at, which ones look like they offer the most protection/good price/comfortable?

Xelement Men's Black Leather Sport Motorcycle Boot

Men's Advanced XElement Motorcycle Black Racing Boots

Motorcycle Boots Men's Vega/Nitro Racing Sport Boots MB2600

Motorcycle Boots Men's Vega/Nitro Racing Techsport Boots MB2620

Just from looking at the pictures I'd say #4. You're definitely gonna want some extra support around your ankles and 4 also looks like it's the hardest to bend the boot in half.

#1 Looks like I'd be able to sprain my ankle just walking around in them...

What number = CHEAP! yet reliable, the ones referenced above aren't one of the huge name brands aka, alpinestars, yet I was thinking about getting the Teknic Chicane's $150 and under....It would just be nice to pay $40-$60 and still have the same quality, ya know?

I wouldn't look to go strictly bargain basement on your boots. The entry-level brand-name race boots are not too much more expensive, and I'd trust them a heck of a lot more than the ones listed above. Here's a nice boot for the money:

AGV Sport Sebring 2 Boots - Motorcycle Superstore

Or these:

TCX SS Performance 2 Racing Motorcycle Boots :: New Enough, LTD

You're not going to get even the most basic safety features in the bargain basement boots, like an iron mesh insert or shin plate/pad.

I can't stress this enough, get on Newenough.com's email list and they will drop you a line when they get stuff on clearance. This is one of the best ways to get top-quality gear at great prices.

It ain't gonna happen, unless you catch some name-brand boots on closeout... or maybe Ebay. Nice times out of ten, you get what you pay for.

Riding boots are like buying tennis shoes. A size in one brand won't fit the same in another brand. I would suggest going to like Cycle Gear and trying on a few sets and write down what size you are in different brands. Then go to eBay and look for them.

The Xelement (top) are similar to my riding (touring) boots. They are comfortable as hell, and I did all my trackdays with them, although they are far from the best protection needed on the track.

Years ago I had found a pair of Sidi Vertebra Airs on eBay for like $100, and bid right up to my max of $150, then when I was outbid, come to find out it was Doc (Shane) that outbid me. Fucker.

Andrea thanks for the recommendations.....yea I know about John & Judy, I was there physically taking the pics, so close I could "smell the blood"....It doesn't bother me, or scare me enough I guess?

Eric thanks for the recommendations....I know what you mean "you get what you pay for"

Well looks like I'll be selling my ass to old men at the bus station, saving to get a pair of decent boots.

Would peeps buy used Boots? Because I have not worn or seen my Spidi's in 3 years.. I know I paid over $200 for them and it was money well spent. I should prob let them go since I won't use them ever again. sz 10 pm if interested.

Cycle gear is having the after hours sale in a little bit, and if you go in there when the sale is on, then have one of their additional 20% off coupons you can get a great deal on some nice boots!
