Hate to see it out there

So there was a fatal accident out there yesterday on Eastern, just north of warm springs. I work for Medicwest here in town and we were transporting a patient down to a hospital when all the sudden traffic stopped on eastern going south. About 30 seconds later another Medicwest ambulance and a County Fire Engine come screaming past us. It takes about 20 minutes for us to get up to where the scene was because they had closed down all the southern lanes and were routing people through a neighborhood. Sad to see though as we were pulling around i could see a white sheet down on the street, thats never a good sign. Met up with the crew that ran on him later in the day and found out a couple interesting facts. First he was driving and ran into the side of a minivan. From there he was separated from his bike and was thrown across into the right lane. From there a dually, what looked like a moving van almost, could not stop in time and ran him over going at last 20-30 mph. The motorcycle driver was NOT wearing a DOT approved helmet so there was not much protection from that point on. The motorcycle driver was pronounced dead on scene from massive head injuries. It is sad to see but things like this happen everyday and sometimes they are unavoidable, but one thing everyone can do here is at least wear your gear. Every time all the time. I have been riding for a very short time but i have seen enough to know that.

And one more thing, be careful out there.

Unfortunately. that rider will never learn from his mistake. Hopefully other people will look at that and think about what they are doing and wearing while riding. Sadly the riders family now have to deal with this horrible loss. RIP

Well they say that the number one injuries from motorycycle accidents are from head injuries, sadly this accident will only add to that stat.

Like the dude said, always wear your gear! Not just a helmet.

Sadly, after going to the past TWNT or whatever you call them, I've noticed a handful of riders who are not geared up properly. Tennis shoes, no riding pants, etc. Let this be a reminder to always wear full gear. Wouldn't you rather sweat than bleed?
