What education programs would you like to see at future events. Tech day, gear, riding technique etc. Post up what you would like to see.

Also, what fun stuff would you like to see? Product demos, new bikes?

Post up!

# 1 reason I hooked up with this forum is to expand my knowledge in maintenance. I lack the knowledge and skills to work on my bike besides the basic oil filter change and plugs.

I like to see how you replace the Brakes: Change out the pads, and flush out the fluids and replace with new cables.

Personally I could use help changing out my Cam Chain Tensioners.

I would love to see a basic check of the bike like chain cleaning/tension tire wear and pressure settings, and normal stuff like that. The kind of stuff you should really look at before you go on the roads with your bike. I put about 3k miles on my bike before I even cleaned my chain. (Thanks to Gunit for telling me to do it and how) I would like to see a hands on thing where you let riders know what to check on a regular basis on their bikes and how to do it so we all can be a little safer. also Riding position help, target fixation help, Just a ton of basic skills that so many of us take for granted.

also would love to see stunter demos and how to stunt safely work shops. I think that would bring in a few squids and maybe we can get them geared up and a little bit safer. Ducati demos would make me drool to :)

Wow, who was the genius that thought of starting a thread on this topic??? I never would have thought of that!

May as well add changing coolant and burping the cooling system to the list. Brake/clutch fluid or cable changing. Lubricating clutch & throttle cables, adjusting the throttle and clutch cables. I personally would like to have a demo on changing out a chain and I'll even volunteer my bike for the demo!

I actually understand this question... and the true answer is "not really".

A couple of local shops have volunteered the use of their facilities for MARS tech events. SCS can leverage these events, which are open to the general riding public, to gain the same (or better) technical knowledge as attending one of our SCS-only events. So the tech events referrred to in this thread are actually "MARS" events, with a great deal of SCS participation.

We can still hold our SCS-only Tech Daze, and these will provide value to the members who require specific knowledge and work done to their rides.

BTW, as much as we try to deny it... SCS and MARS are joined at the proverbial hip.

I knew that they were "In Bed", but wanted to make sure that when we want to get together at someones house to teach maintenance and stuff (aka SCS Tech Dayz) like we used to, that it doesn't get turned into a big MARS event.

I do see a benefit to both. Like when a shop plans to put one on and the expected turnout is more than a dozen peeps, MARS can have it. But an SCS get together to teach members how to change their fluids at someone's house, then we still have that option.

Coolio.

I would like to see more riding technique classes (cornering, brake control ect.). I plan on doing some track days this year and would like to be a little less green the first time that I hit the track.

How to rail through turn 8, and keep your speed through turn 9 without scrubbing too much for turn 10 at Pahrump.

I'm not sure how it would work with the liability of everything, but we could set up some cones for a slow speed maneuver course and maybe practice some panic braking.

As far as the track prep goes, do some reading like "A Twist of the Wrist" and then make sure you do the novice riders school with Fastrack (they require it if you don't have track experience anyhow...)

There is a course painted in the parking lot in front of the Speedway. That's where I took Leslie and had her practice her turning/braking/etc. All it would need is some cones to make it perfect.

Sorry, Eric is correct. SCS will still have SCS Tech Days, but the MARS events are basically put together by all SCS peeps (for the most part) but also include the general public. It just means we get more tech days and more resources, like someones shop and all their tools (Thank You LV Dyno Tech and Moto Cafe)

Track day School! Hell, just a track day...I'm Ready!

We do have to limit any riding technique classes to static demos. There is an insurance and liability issue involved when you have people actually riding. We can do less formalized range type exercises, but they cannot be connected to MARS. Until MARS can afford a $2,000,000 liability policy, we will have to stick to that.

I Have cones and a way of quickly setting up a basic range. Now that the days are longer, we will setup some exercises, but again on a more casual level. Basically we post up a day and show up at a big parking lot with cones

So far, the sense I get is more basic maintenance demos and some riding demos. What do you think will get peeps to show up? New bikes, product demos, what?

I think MARS having a tech day for the general public is an AWESOME idea!

Since I can't ride anymore, I'm glad other peeps can get on here and gives ideas. I'll keep thinking though.
