Hi all, I am sure some if not most of you already know, but just wanted to make sure everybody got a heads up. StuntDrvr/Dave was in an accident this morning. He is is Trauma Center at UMC Charleston. Broken elbow, two broken wrists, 4 broken vertebre, several severe pelvis fractures. He is pretty heavily drugged, and only allowed one visitor at a time right now. I hope this is not a TOS, I am going to cut and paste some of the important posts from the thread on 702 for you all to read, along with a couple links.

The above link is about the accident

A Las Vegas Sportbike Community • View topic - Helmet Signing for StuntDrvr/Dave. WSW and M3
This link is for a helmet signing for Dave, if you would like to sign it.

"I just found out David (Stuntdriver) went down on his bike, from what I know a woman pulled out in front of him, he T'd her, went over the car and a cop saw it and decided to give him a ticket for it for sliding too far??? That I need to find full details, he's got broken bones and is bleeding. He is at UMC on Charlsten, I haven't been to visit since I just found out but will update when I can"

"Dave's condition is pretty bad. Although he was able to add to conversations we had with the nurses, he's in a lot of pain. He's on as much Morphine as they can give him and as a side effect, he feels cold with two blankets on. He's in pain when he speaks but can recognize you if you're standing next to his head. His injuries are what John stated except I believe both wrists are broken. The docs are most concerned with the multiple fractures to his pelvis. Circulation and nerve damage being primary issues. His room number may change but if you ask for David See, the guard will tell you what room he's in. They probably will only let you in one at a time and he's located in the Trauma ICU."

"Dave has 4 fractured vertebre, (SP?) fractured elbow, both wrists fractured, and his pelvis is fractured in several places, the pelvis being the most extensive damage. The fractures for both wrists and elbow will require surgery, these will heal completely when they are able to operate on him. The vertebre fractures are not bad, and are expected to heal completely on their own.
What is bad is the pelvis fractures. This can turn out bad for Dave. As the trauma surgeon explained it to me, most pelvis fractures on a scale of 1 to 5, are a 1, every now and then you see a 2 or a 3. Dave's pelvis fracture is a definite 4. He CAN NOT move AT ALL right now. His pelvis can not even be set back in place at this time due to the extent of the damage. They have him in a sort of collar for your pelvis, but they are not able to close the pelvis fractures up yet. In fact it is not even close. The fracture in the front, being the biggest, based on their description, the two broken pieces are several inches apart. This has also caused the tendons to his legs, these tendons being some of the strongest in the body, to be stretched badly. These tendons the surgeon said, are as strong as steel, so for them to stretch as much as they have, is extreme. While Dave is able to wiggle his toes right now, it is possible he could lose mobility permanently in one or both legs, over the next week. Many times when setting pelvis fractures of this magnatude, the spinal cord ends up being damaged. He has lost feeling in his legs a couple times throughout the day. He definitely will have permanent lower back problems for the rest of his life. He will be in a steel collar, which is mounted outside the body, and be bed ridden, until his pelvis heals. His best case scenario, is to start physical therapy, to try to walk again, in 3 months. The extent of the permanent lower back damage will not be known until much later. The best case scenario for this, is acute pain. They will not operate on the wrists or elbow, until his pelvis is set and stable.
He is on alot of drugs, and while he appears asleep, he does know you are there for the most part. He will ocassionally interject in a convo and it is clear he has heard you and comprehended everything you have said to someone else. He is in trauma at UMC right now. Only one visitor is allowed in at a time to see him. They performed a MRI and have not read the results, they were waiting on several specialists to come and look over the MRI results before they would say anything. He will be in the hospital for a while to come according to the doctor and nurse, as in easily for a month, if not longer. He is room 805, please keep in mind that he is only allowed one visitor at a time, and he has a girlfriend, a daughter in law, a son, a daughter, and a father driving in from Utah who all will be visiting with him as well as some friends he is close with not on 702. I will post another update when I know more."

"Last I saw him, he was snoring away and needs the rest so I didn't wake him. The good news is that he was wearing gear and he didn't break any ribs, no real internal bleeding and shoulders up you'd never know he's in as bad of shape as he's in. He will be having the surgery on his pelvis and vertebra tonight or tomorrow, then they will be able to get to the rest of him.

The visiting times are 9am-2pm, 4pm-6pm, 8pm-2:30am. TICU: 383-3906 Security Desk 383-3805
Ask for David See, he was in room 805"

I'll post any updates as I get them.

Hope he makes a full recovery. You said he was wearing gear? How much? Any more details about the crash like how fast was hegoing, what lane, etc.

Unfortunately, it takes something like this to remind us all how dangerous it is and maybe by disecting the crash, we can learn something from this and may save one one of us down the road.

Thanks for posting and keep us posted.

Don't really know the guy, but we all have the samething in common, love to ride.

Let him know we are all pulling for him. This is an unfortunate and all to common occurrence. We all need to ride a little paranoid. The cagers are not looking for us.

Please post up news as soon as you know, I have been worrying about this for the past couple days. On my first 702 ride ever, Dave kind of took me under his wing and introduced me to everyone. Then we split off from the group after the Dam run and rode Lake Mead for my first time ever at midnight, and finished it up with some 2am In-n-out. That was a great first 702 experience.
