Another rider I know went down with some pretty serious injuries out at Big Bear this weekend. I thought this would be a good time to bring up how important it is to have your emergency contact and health info. readily available in case the downed rider happens to be you. Whenever riding, you should always make sure at least one other person you ride with has at least two emergency contacts. It's also a good idea for that person to know of any medical problems/allergies, etc. That information is so very valuable to paramedics on the scene. If you have it in your wallet, they generally won't waste their time looking for it, so having someone there who knows your medical history is invaluable.

Another option is a ResQtag. ResQtag Home page I saw a friend of mine with it last weekend when I was in Oceanside. It's a cloth that you can write all of the pertinent info. on and attach it to your jacket zipper pull. Then a sticker goes on your helmet on the front, stating that emergency medical info. is in that zipper pull tag. A paramedic WILL see the sticker and WILL open up the ResQtag. I am just waiting for mine to come in the mail. I'm getting two... one for my leather jacket and one for my mesh jacket. I've been told that if you order two you only get one sticker, so if you have two helmets, you might try requesting the right number of stickers too.

All great stuff! How do you like your VFR? I just bought an 08 and so far so good. Did you purchase the hard bags from honda or do you prefer the soft bags for touring?

Well, let's see, I bought it brand new at the end of July 2008 and I have over 10K miles on it... that should tell you something! No, I didn't waste the money on the hard bags. I got tank bag and tail bag from Motorcycle Luggage from Luggage Locker, and I have plenty of room for anything I want to do. Mods I would HIGHLY recommend... O2 eliminators, PCIII and custom map. Smooths out any choppiness in there and makes it soooooooooooo nice to ride!! Get pipes if you want, but I didn't. Still have stock pipes. Congrats on yours!! Hopefully see you out on a ride or at Motocafe one night!!

Oh... and a Sargent seat is a must have if you plan on doing any long hauls.

This a great thing to have. Thanks for posting. I'm going to get one too. But I have one question, does the double tag mean you get two sets? Or does it mean you can just store more information.

The two-pack is for added safety. Put one on your jacket and one on your pants. It’s very unlikely that during an accident you would loose both tags.
