Disk Lock (only the kind they can't get some bolt cutters around)

Install a hoist in your garage and lift it up into the attic.

if you are parking your bike in a garage, get a U lock(disc lock), place it in the lowest space on your garage door track (where the wheels are) this can and will prevent people from forcing your garage door open, or using the manual release. The thieves would have to pull the door wheels over the lock(impossible) or remove the door hinges and pieces (very long and noisy)...just remember the next morning to remove it or your garage door will be making weird noises at you.

I have a system called Magictrak, similar to LoJack, but it works with my cell phone as well as a website. I can send a text message to it and it texts me back wtih its location and travelling speed. The webiste provides more detailed info. as well as maps, satellite pics, etc. I can also enable/disable the starter on the website and put a perimeter around the bike. If the bike moves out of the perimeter I will immediately be notified via text message. So far, I haven't had to use it, but it provides a good feeling. Plus, I can have up to 3 people on the account, so if I ever go missing there are at least two others that can access it and at least find the bike... and hopefully I won't be too far from it...

Currently it is not working because my contract expired and due to problems I had with my cell provider in the beginning, and a letter I wrote to the company, the owner of the company wants me to wait til the end of July. At that time they are going to install the latest and greatest model for me, and give me a year contract and support for free. Talk about customer service!! I was a little worried about being unprotected but was assured that even though I can't access it for a few weeks, IF my bike goes missing, I can call the company and they can track it for me... so I'm still covered....

The company is located in Henderson, NV and if anyone wants info. on it, let me know...

K, I'll get the info. posted or PM'd to you. I have a call into the owner of the company to find out from him what he'd want me to post... maybe they have multiple products, or there's a website I can post up... plus, I want to find out if he'll offer a discount to SCS members. Once I have all that, I'll get it out to ya'll.

As an aside, their customer service REALLY IS awesome!! When my unit didn't work, a rep came to my job and tested stuff out, they didn't make me do all the testing for them. They then persistently tested it out with various cell providers and when they narrowed it down to a problem with T-Mobile, they still called T-Mobile on my behalf, and got to the bottom of the problem. Most companies today would say "It's T-Mobile, not our problem." And I'd be screwed. I even got a free lunch out of the deal!! I wrote a letter to them thanking them for running such a great company and truly caring about the customer... and almost a year later, the owner remembered me and wants to give me new system no charge. He's a great guy and easy to talk to.

An update on this.... the owner of the company and I have been playing phone tag on and off but we finally got to talk today. He said they are just waiting for the new units to come out and will get back to me with pricing. Probably in the next 30 days. He let me know that they don't sell them direct through his company, but one of their retailers is RideNow, which is where I bought my bike and why I have one. He talked to his contact at RideNow and they're looking at a 20% or 25% discount for SCS peeps. Unfortunately, they don't have pricing right now.

I know it might sound a little "shady" but they had some difficulty with the old units and cell companies, so have been devloping these new units. They are a great company and the units and technology is really cool. As soon as they get the new units, they will be contacting me to swap mine out for a new one, and when that happens, I'll let you know and would be happy to do a demo or demos for anyone who's interested. Then, we just have to work out the details on how you get your discount at RideNow.

Did they workout the problem with T-mobile?
Also, how big is the unit? Can it be installed for cars/trucks too?

K... I know this is taking a while, but I got a call from the owner just now and he said they are doing final testing on the new units and they should have one for me next week. I mentioned to him that I'm going to a VFR meet out in Oceanside this weekend and would love to show it off for him out there, so he's going to see if he can get me one this week... even if it's just the one they are using to test for now. I can do some additional testing for them.

He also noted a new feature on the new ones.... On the old ones, you did not receive notification that your bike moved from it's spot unless you setup a perimeter using a site on the internet. The new ones will work the same way, except in cases where your bike is dormant for more than 24 hours. After 24 hours, if the ignition is not turned on and the bike is moved, you will receive a text message telling you your bike has moved. I thought that was pretty cool. I'll keep you guys posted.

Lots of good advice here. Rigg your garage door, electronic tracking, but most of all theft insurance.

Our bikes are locked away in the garage at night. And I sleep pretty well at night knowing that everyone in my house is armed. I know it happens, but if someone actually had the bawlz to break into my house, they would be trying to swap out our bikes for their lives. And I swear on everything I hold to be True...they would lose and find nothing but the means to their end.

As for out in public areas. I only park my bike up front, with vallet, or somewhere in the line of sight. No exceptions.

Looks like the long-awaited for arrival is finally closing in. The owner called me today and said they are finally happy with the product after mucho testing. They also added one more feature, which is what took a little longer. On the old version, you could set a perimeter around the bike and if it moved out of that perimeter a text message was sent to you. Problem was, you could only set the perimeter from a computer. This new version will automatically set a perimeter around the bike as soon as the ignition is turned off, so you will always know if your bike is moved. Also, if the bike is off and not moved for 18 hours (like the bra) or more, it will go into sleep mode. It still has a perimeter around it and it will "wake up" if moved out of the perimeter. But it cannot be tracked at that point. The advantage is that it is not draining your battery. I don't know about you, but getting a text message within minutes of my bike being moved is HUGE... and it sends you its GPS coordinates, speed, etc.!!

Anyway, they expect the new units to be in next week. He told me they will send an installation guy to my work and he (the owner) is planning on coming along too, to make sure I'm happy.

Does this sound like something you'd be interested in? I asked him if he'd be willing to come to one of our TWT or something to do a demo for you guys and he would love to. I believe he said RideNow would give SCS peeps a 25% discount... I'd have to confirm that. If enough peeps are interested in having him come do a demo, I'll work with the "officers" of SCS to see how we might make that happen.
