This happens every fucking year. Soon as the riders come out from winter , I believe that they aren't at 100% on guard, and the stupidity of some cagers compounds the risk factor.

Every time you throw a leg over the seat, if it's been a while since you rode, go over the risks and awareness in your head.

A few years ago I saw an intoxicated driver kill a surveyor. The driver never stopped even though the vehicles front end was severly damaged. Another witness chased the driver down and returned him in his vehicle to the scene while i tried to revive the surveyor.I stood next the driver (now a murderer) as the driver was informed bya metro officer that he had killed the surveyor. That the body laying in the street was his responsibility. The officer continued to scold the driver telling the driver to "look at what you have done" while pointing to the ambulance crew picking up the shattered lifeless body. They found Oxycontin, Lortab and alcohol in the vehicle. The driver failed the field sobriety test. It took 3 motor officers to restrain the rest of the survey crew from getting at the driver. The survey crew kept coming back for more even after the driver had been cuffed and placed in a police car.
I gave my statement, sent flowers and a card to the family,I followed the case as the driver pled to a lessor charge. I believe he is out there now, driving again. If its not him there are many like him. Whether distracted or intoxicated...male or female...young or old....they are out there recklessly disrespecting the lives and rights of all motorists and pedestrians.
To our fallen riders, travel well. Your death reminds me of just how unforgiving our choices can be. Your death reminds me to be forthright and appreciative of my life. Your death reminds me to avenge our loss of you by continuing to promote safety and education of a sport we all enjoy and love.
RIP,RIP

Man, this one hit close to home. Durango & Sahara is the first major intersection I go through everyday on my way to work, right around the same time. 8 a.m. Could have easlily been me. Actually, I had several messages on my cell from the people who I know who thought it may have been me.

It's probably a rider who I have encountered and acknowledged many times on my way to work. I actually had to take a detour this morning since they had that intersection closed. From a distance, all I could see was that there was a Hummer. Had no idea it involved a motorcyclist. But I knew it was bad since I noticed Mercy Air buzzing around above.

On my way home going thru that intersection, I gave my bike a few loud revs while I crossed the intersection in honor of the rider. R.I.P.

Motorcyclist killed in collision with CAT bus

By MAGGIE LILLIS
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL

Investigators are on scene of a fatal accident involving a motorcyclist and a Citizens Area Transit bus near Desert Inn Road and Pecos McLeod Drive, Las Vegas police said.

Both vehicles were traveling eastbound on Desert Inn Drive when the motorcyclist lost control and slid into the CAT bus, Las Vegas police spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said.

There were no injuries to those on the bus.

The identity of the motorcyclist was not immediately available and it is unknown why they lost control of the vehicle to cause the crash.

Traffic near the intersection is blocked while crews investigate.

What I did notice this morning are the spray paint markings from accident investigators. From the paint markings, it appears that the Bummer was taking a left turn onto Sahara westbound from Durango. The point of impact was the right portion of Durango's southbound lane.

As far as the other motorcyclist hitting the CAT bus.....Bus may have been stopped, and he rear ended the bus? Just speculation here.

But....there is a pattern here, something that I always preach about when it comes to lane choice and lane position. Stay out of the right lane! Absolutely the worst possible lane you can be in for too many reasons's to list.

"Bummer"?

I'm guessing it was a Hummer, or a Beemer.

That accident was with a Hummer and a motorcycle. I didn't see it but a buddy of mine's wife did. The Hummer's front end was apparently so destroyed that it looked like it wrapped around a tree. It went head on with a motorcycle and obviously the Hummer wins that one every time. One, if not both, must have been hauling ass to make damage like that.

That's what I call a Hummer, a Bummer. Ask anyone who drives those big gas guzzling SUV's as far as what they get miles per gallon. After hearing their answer, the word Bummer usually follows as your response.

My towing rig is a 2004 Ford Excursion Turbo Diesel 4X4. 3 Inch lift 30 inch toyos. 60 gallons of diesel. 8mpg in town with toys on the hitch/12mpg highway with toys on the hitch. We get a little better running light without the toys. Main point here is I would have to be really moving and be hit with like a 747 to total the front end. My guess...hummer was on a speed rampage...in a hurry and on a blackberry!

Un-believable. I am gonna try and get some stats on this stuff. I wonder how many attended some sort of rider education vs. those who did not? How many years of experience combined/individually. With the recent surge in motorcycle sales could be alot of newbies out there with limited skills.

Saw the range road one yesterday on my way to work. 2 cops there, a newer ZX6 or ZX10 smashed and off the side of the road. I saw it at 0615 , don't know anything about the rider, no paramedics were there at the time , didn't see a rider down , nor did i see anyone standing around who could have been the rider.

R.I.P. and it wasn't totally his fault. Who's the rider who let him ride their bike?

Rip for all downed riders, please take a moment of silence, for this is the most fatalities i have ever seen in such a short period of time. Remeber, i care about each and every one of you on this board, that i have met face to face or not. We live in a fast paced city. Its dangerous. Stay alert, stay defensive. Much love.
