Sorry for you challenge. I have a good friend that has Addison's as well. He is one of the most fit people I know. Rides his ass off on MotoX tracks, and plays Lacrosse. He is 40+ and has been dealing with this for 20+ years. Stay Strong, Barry

Hey Dude, I have that too. My doc calls it "Adrenal Failure/Adrenal Fatigue" but it's the same as Addison's. It hits us all in varying degrees, but my doc worked with me so that I only need to take supplements, not prescription drugs... she weaned me off the "hard stuff" once we got everything back in check. Now I go in a couple times a year for monitoring. The two most important things with this disease is regularly scheduled sleep and meals. If you are late on a meal or lose too much sleep over too much time, you will BE THE DEVIL!! Keep those two things going and maybe your doc can get you off the meds and onto supportive care. If you want the name of my doc, I'd be happy to give it to you... she's REALLY great!! Anyway, sorry to hear, welcome to the club and... keep in mind if you take care of yourself and do what I said above, you can be sane and live a really full life...

Good looking out Karen! I wish nothing but the best for both of you! Keep your head up Jason, my dad always said you can't let "it" beat you or even think it is gaining ground.

Sorry to hear about that Jason. It definitely doesn't sound fun taking all those pills.

It sucks at the prospect of having to take pills for the rest of your life. The reality is, if it works, having to takes pills everyday is not that hard. I take a handful of supliments everyday. I have since me teens. You just get used to it. The most important thing is that you get better and feel better.

So sorry to hear you have addison's. They say it's a rare condition, and it took years before my sister-in-law was diagnosed with it (20 years ago). She nearly died from being so emaciated bc she couldn't keep her food down. But she lives a normal life and takes pills every day, and last year she had her first healthy baby at 36 years old. The upside is that her complexion darkened a bit, so she looks like she has a perfect tan all the time. It is a hard thing to deal with anything like this, but hopefully you have friends and family there to support you. I know everyone here is wishing you the best. | |
