So I met up with some members from the FZ6-Forum.com this Saturday down in Southern Cal. It was a 750 mile turnaround for me. Got lucky and got a pic taken from a professional photographer.

The meet up, I-15 and Pala Road (Hwy 76) fourteen bikes, From Truimphs,Ducati Buell, and lots of Yamaha's.

Onto of Palomar Mountain at Mother's Kitchen

Lake Henshaw overlook on the way to Julan, Borrengo Springs and finally up Montezuma Wells.

Julian California.

Reserved curbside parking, how did they know we were coming?

Lunch out at the patio.

Now of course, places like these brings out all the Bozos. Unsafe and irresponsible riders.

Take a look at this video where one of our riders had a Go Pro Camera mounted on the rear of his bike. He just narrowly missed a collsion with another rider who went very wide around the same turn, but coming from the other direction. He went straight across the double yellow, just missed our rider, and corrrected just before the guardrail. Keep an eye on the left side of the video.

As we were going up the Southgrade, we came across a downed rider. Just got the bike, no insurance. Lucky to be alive. The bike was pinned underneath the guardrail. It took about six people to finally remove it from underneath the guardrail. It was a must, it was leaking fuel onto the roadway.

Here's the corner. Lots of decreasing radius turns here. Poor cornering judgement will get you killed in a heartbeat on this road. Fortunately, the guy was in full gear and ended up with a cut finger.

This sucks.

It looks like you had a good time overall, though. Thanks for sharing your story/pics!

I used to ride Palomar, Julian and Borrengo Springs all the time. I live in Ramona and it was great, Palomar was about a 20 min ride for me.

It also is not for inexperienced riders or riding out of your limits. It will get you quick.... and there is lots of traffic.

Looks like you guys had a great time...

No, it wasn't a good time, it was a Great Time!

I would have posted up and see if anyone from Vegas would have been interested in going, but this was a last minute decision. As for me going or not going depended on whether my bike was going to be repaired on time. I just had my steering head bearings and front springs replaced Friday evening. I hope the shop didn't require a 3-400 mile retorque because it was a 750 mile ride on Saturday.

It's a very well organized ride, with riders separated into two groups so no matter what your skill level is, you will always end up riding your own ride, with sweepers in both groups.

Plus another thing I like about meeting with all the Southern Cal riders is that they know the roads and area very well. They know what areas to be very cautious at, where the cops like to hang out, etc. So it's not like you're riding blind, you have great leaders in the group. After all, it's their backyard.

It's like riding at Red Rock, there are members here who are great leaders. They know the area very well.
