This is one of those mods at the bottom of the list. But, if you've done the other usual ones and are out of other/better performance mods, then go for it. But don't expect a lot of gains. And expect a slight loss equal to the gain, but in the opposite rpm range. Short for high rpm power, long for low rpm.

Save the money, buy a bigger bike. Remember there is no replacement for displacement.

How so? You can only get so much from a 600. If you really need to go faster, you can 1. Dump thousands into a motor to gain maybe 15-30hp, or 2. Get a bike with a bigger engine that already makes the power.

| you can only go so fast in a straight line! now when it comes to twisties. a 6 will have the upper hand due to it being a lighter bike! i belive thats why alot of guys that race have 600's as a race bike! but what do i know, i just started riding a few months ago. hell, i havent even had a trackday....

Aww come on people! Lets not get bent out of shape here. The guy asked about velocity stacks, and all he said is he wanted a little more grunt out of it. We don't know the details of his situation, so in that case, we can either ask him for more info on what exactly he is trying to accomplish, or we can keep in on topic and help him with the original question. Perhaps he likes his 600, and the light weight of it, and is just looking for an extra edge (I'm guilty of that). Stuff like sprockets, intake, exhaust, and velocity stacks are relatively cheap, compared to getting a bigger bike. I'm sure he knows a bigger bike would probably go faster. I am always thinking of ways to get more out of my 600, and I'm not alone in that.

Most people are slower on liter bikes than on 600s (other than in a straight line). 1000s are completely different bikes. The reality is about 80% of liter bike owners should probably be on a 600. 1000s are far less forgiving and far more likely to toss you into the weeds. Wanting a few more ponies out of a 600 does not mean you should just go to a 1000. It is in many cases dangerous. It is in every case BAD ADVICE! When I asked Jason Pridmore what was the biggest most common mistake that riders made, he answered; choice of bike. He stated that 80% of riders were on too big/fast a bike for their riding skills. I understand that the answer partly tongue in cheek, but it was bad advice none the less.

Last time I checked a 750 was bigger than a 600. I never said go to a 1000.

unfortunately, there is only 1 manufacturer that makes a 750. not every one wants a gsxr!

thank you for the honesty guys..lol i didnt mean to turn it into an argument, however it was fun to read. i love my 600, and velocity stacks are relatively cheap. i love carving corners and going fast...however, after 130 mph and less than 11 second quarter mile time, its all the same to me. i will be attending track days more than anything else, and i look forward to purchasing a 2005 gsxr750 in the near future. thank you for your thoughts, hope to see you at the track!

Good attitude. A 750 is a great upgrade. I wish more manufacturers made them. They offer better midrange power with 600 handling. Probably the best overall street bike an experienced rider could own. Kawi...are you listening? 2011 zx7?

Velocity stacks give my Busa a much-needed boost in top-end power. Quote: Quote:
I don't necessarily agree with this... it's definitely not bad advice in "every" case. There are far too many people who dump big $$$ into a 600 with the false impression that they will see significant gains in HP. And going to a larger displacement bike will acheive those gains with minimal fuss. Of course, if you are an inexperienced rider, a literbike may not be for you.

I would agree that if you have already done all the typical upgrades then maybe go with the velocity stacks, but to be honest I think they are a waste of money. You might talk to Dustin at RDS cycles. He is an AMA racer and builds his own bikes. He has a lot of experience in the field.
