I Ride: K9 GSX-R 1000
Hey guys and gals just checking in, new to the forums and to the riding scene here in Vegas. Name is Daniel, 28, married, ride a Black & Silver K9 GSX-R 1000 (bought March 11th, have 1300 miles on it LOVE IT). Been riding dirtbikes for 18 years and finally decided to go street, against the wishes of others I decided to start with the 1000 only because it was the best feeling fit for me. Have been having a blast and trying to improve my skills on the street every day. Have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off and work graves so can usually make early rides or rides on those days... Dunno much else to say other than cant wait to start meeting the folks on here.

See ya out there... Ride safe!

You most definitely will be seeing me on some rides :D, sadly my wife is limiting my rides to and from work on work days because I was riding so much I was refueling 1-2 times a day. So now I can only really ride on my weekends and special rides that I ok through her in advance :P... I wear pants.... I swear...

Anyways I'm off tuesdays and wednesdays so any planned rides on those days that people don't mind letting my noobie ass join I'm in. And yea I cant wait for track days, got some things to get and way more seat time before I think they'll even let me near a track so for now I will learn all I can on the roads :D see you guys out there.

The track gets addicting very quick, 5 months after i got my first sportbike i was on the track, one month later i was racing. Its a nasty addiction.

Lol yea I figured, I just look at track videos and posts about what you need for track days and I start making plans, I can already see I'm gonna be an addict so I'll wait until I can actually get everything I'll need and a bit more experience so I have the best chance of surviving it :D.

Welcome to Vegas fellow Gixxer rider,

You want to fine tune your skills on the that 1k.

Best place to do that IMHO is track day with TrackXperience Novice with school.

Riding street is dangerous regardless of experience. And not to offend, but a Nubee on a Gixxer 1k even worst. Be real careful on that thing.

I understand the forces of others and what they want. But I love to ride.
I was in the same situation when I met my wife. All she ever imagined everytime I rode was me going 100mph everywhere and getting splattered all over the road and her seeing guys riding like idiots didnt help my case either. Still doesnt. But I started taking trackdays, started out Novice with school and what a difference it makes being able to actually ride your ride without having to worry about so many of the variables that exist when street riding. She now knows and understands that I make an effort to ride as safe as possible and although it doesnt stop her from worrying it does put her mind at ease knowing that I have taken the time to educate myself and fine tune my skills on my bike. Street riding for me is always on the defense, its fun but always on the lookout for what might take me out.
Trackdays give you the opportunity to learn what skills it takes to be a good rider. Offensive/Defensive skills
The guys at TrackXperience are by far the best IMO and the school is free by the way and now they have stepped it up even more by adding ARC I believe (Advanced Rider Course/Clinic) I'm not quite at that point but hope to be someday.
I'm actually Bronze level I believe and hoping for silver this next time out

The only thing about TrackXperience I dont like is that the only come to Vegas 1 or 2 times a year.

The next Trackday is set for April 24/25
I recommend doing what you can to get yourself in on it. You wont regret it

Go to their site and educate yourself on this great program
Motorcycle Track Days in California and Nevada, Willow Springs, Chuckwalla, Spring Mountain

Good Luck, Ride Safe, Ride your Ride and Welcome to Vegas

Good post man, and yes I understand where you're coming from completely and yes my wife is identical :P... I would LOVE to join in a novice class on the track free or not, only unfortunately I am not ready gear wise for a track session. I don't have full leathers, riding boots, the right type gloves the track requires. I also don't have any way to trailer my bike to the track so I'd be riding it there (another thing I'm told they frown upon) so I have some preparations before I can take such a course.

I could always use advice and work on my skills, but fortunately for me I ride my own ride and am not pressured by other riders mad skillz to push myself beyond my limits :). Thanks for the info and the welcome, hope to see you and everyone else out there.
