So today Susan and I rode down to Laughlin to go see what the Harley guys do ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I can not count how many NHP, Metro, and Boulder City officers we saw today, most with people ( largely motorcycles) pulled over. The reason I can count how many I saw is because I ran out of fingers and toes, they were all over the place. Marked units, Plain Jane UC cars with Lights the whole 9 yards. I really could not enjoy my ride as every couple of miles I saw a officer either pulled over or pulling over someone. I kept thinking, how fast am I going, is my speedo accurate, am I going to get pulled over by someone fresh out of the academy wanting to write some tickets, what speed should I be going? Is 65 ok, 70, 75? I really could not get in the grove of riding as I was more worried about looking at my speedo every second of the way. This sucked ass big time, as this effort was clearly aimed largely at motorcyclist. Why? we all know the Laughlin incident so a few years ago so bad shit happened. But just last weekend wasn't the LEO community asking for help or $$ from the Motorcycle community? (ride for fallen Hero's) When someone ask's me about "how was Laughlin?" my initial response will be "there was a ton of cops" as that just consumed my thoughts as I road. I would argue their reason for the heavy presence would be stated as "to provide a safe environment for people to enjoy the River Run". I find it almost insulting that one weekend the PO PO would want me to come out and get in my pocket for the cause of fallen officers, the next they are back demanding more $$ from my pocket so that I might enjoy the environment I choose to be in. So if I got pulled over would it be wrong to say "I gave at the Office"?
