Accident on Lake Mead and Bruce this afternoon took another life. This was a member of Convicts and his lady!

PLEASE Be careful out there, there are so many factors to take into effect, we have to drive like people are out to kill us, because some times they are and just don't realize it! This is way too many fatalities that hit way to close to home!!!

North Las Vegas -- Shortly after 12:30pm Saturday a motorcycle and car were involved in an accident which killed one of the riders of the motorcycle and left the other one in critical condition.

The accident happened at the intersection of Lake Mead and Bruce St. right in front of the North Las Vegas Police Department and was reported by a department employee.

Preliminary investigation indicated a 40-year-old North Las Vegas Man was riding in his 2005 Harley Davidson westbound on Lake Mead with 36-year-old female North Las Vegas resident as the passenger.

The motorcycle was at the intersection of Bruce St. when a 2009 Nissan Versa driven by a 83-year-old man, who was turning left to go north on Bruce St when the motorcycle struck the right side of the Nissan killing the male operator of the motorcycle and critically injuring the female passenger. She was transported to UMC with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the Nissan did not suffer any injuries and submitted to a voluntary blood draw to help determine if any drug or alcohol factors.

According to North Las Vegas Police drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be a factor at this point. Excessive speed on the motorcyclist party may be a factor, but won't be known until the accident investigation is complete.

Both people on the motorcycle were wearing poor quality helmets that provide little protection.

This is the third traffic fatality in North Las Vegas this year. All of the fatalities have been motorcycle riders.

And another I found on the news sites...

A 20-year-old Las Vegas man riding a motorcycle died Friday night after a Nissan pickup struck him near Lamb Boulevard and Owens Avenue, Las Vegas police said.

Police identified the motorcyclist who died at the scene as Darius Turner. They identified the 51-year-old driver of the 2004 Nissan Titan as Manuel Espinoza of Las Vegas.

Police said Turner was riding a 2001 Suzuki motorcycle north on Lamb Boulevard around 6 p.m. near the intersection with Van Buren Avenue. The Titan was traveling south on Lamb and attempted to make a left turn onto Van Buren as Turner's motorcycle entered the intersection.

The Titan struck the left side of the motorcycle.

+ 1 Please be careful and always wear proper safety gear, more the better.

1. Always ride with a Strategy
2. Look Agressively
3. Know WHERE to Look.
4. Know HOW & WHAT to Look for.

If you don't know any of the above:

Might be a good time to take a motorcycle safety course as a refresher A BRC or ERC. A lot of nice discounts comes with a successful completion of the class, including your bike insurance, Cycle Gear, Harley Rentals, Carter Powersports.

Most importantly, thought and prayers for the rider, friends and famlies involved. RIP!

Guess what all these deaths have in common?

And does the test of ones driving, morals, and guilt always have to cost a life? I can't remember the last day I rode without someone trying to accidentally kill me.

RIP

I put some good miles on the bikes with Jackie this weekend. I don't know if we were more alert because of the recent non-accidents, or if it was just plain dangerous out there but we were pushed out of our lane by a woman in a white SUV more focused on her kids than driving, very aggressively tailgated by a Vette (we were going 80, slightly faster than traffic) and a car with 2 young hotties were waving at Jackie telling her she looked so hot. I liked that part.

My condolences to the families left behind. Be safe.
