For those of you that saw the Metro Truck blocking the by pass to the lodge when you were leaving the picnic yesterday, here is an update on what happened. Dear Ducati Dogs, I’m heartbroken to inform you of the news I’ve received earlier this Sunday afternoon! Our dear friend, a founder, and board member of this club, Steve Golladay has passed away due to an accident on his motorcycle earlier this afternoon at Mount Charleston! Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends during this very difficult time. He will be greatly missed on every race day, every ride, and especially our yearly trips to Laguna Seca, (which I, Scott, Matt, Donnie,Mark and Dwayne had the pleasure of spending this last trip just a few weeks ago with him.) You will NEVER be forgotten my dear friend, Rick Henry, President-Ducati Dogs RIP fellow rider. My understanding is that he was an MSF instructor as well. Be careful out there, because they don't pay attention.

Wow. What a shame. Was this the 1098 that was at the BBQ?

I saw that police truck blocking the turnoff and figured it was because the road washed out with the sudden rain/hail. I just saw this info on another forum. ![]() Just sad and messed up. ![]() ![]() Godspeed to him and his family and friends.

I noticed you can post on news reports...the first post is some ignorant cager who might have been the driver or passenger of the SUV that killed this rider. It's upsetting that we're always the bad guys. Maybe if someone in the car had died, they might consider it more carefully(ex: What could I have done?)... but probably not. ![]() Fatal motorcycle accident on Mt. I personally knew Steve, I got certified as an MSF Rider Coach with him. Great guy, always wore all the gear. Young and had already done so much. Terrible loss, seriously. RIP Brotha!

Yup, it's always the motorcyclist's fault AND if they were on a sportbike, they were always racing or doing something they shouldn't have been. Like people on sportbikes NEVER take caution and never ride "normally" or "safely" because we have a sportbike. I hate this sh*t...all the way around. To loose a great guy and then some azz has to try and tarnish him because they don't want to look like they are at fault. I'm sure it happened as the second reply poster stated because I have seen it time and time again (and has happened to me several times) because people in cages don't take caution and don't judge how fast a motorcycle is going, even if it's going at the normal speed limit for the road. So, they probably did the "should I pull out, no I shouldn't, oh wait, there is time, let me pull out" thing. So, the probably pulled up, inched out to go, decided not to and then said f*ck it and decided to go and that's when it was too late and Steve had no other options. I wasn't there, but just going off what was said about the two witnesses (both cager & motorcyclist), that seems to be the case. Plus, we are always racing and speeding along because others cannot judge how fast a motorcycle is going, so they say we were speeding when we show up to the scene faster than THEY intended..not necessarily faster than the speed limit on the road. I hate to hear and see all this, I really do. However, it has been good to see that lately LEOs have been admitting that 90% of the time it's not the motorcyclist's fault and we're the victims. But cagers don't want to hear that because they don't want to feel that THEY have actually killed someone or injured them. Much easier to say the motorcyclist (especially a sportbiker) was doing something they shouldn't have been doing. Again, RIP Steve...you were taken WAYYYY too early.

I've been away and just checked all my e-mails today about the details about his death and his services. A little late. RIP my fellow Rider Coach. I guess God needed another good Rider Coach upstairs for all the riders we have lost.
