Rather than taking the time to post everything on this forum, I have provided a direct link for my post that I had created last night on the FZ6 Forum.

I think these are one of the most informative kinds of posts that any rider can provide so that everyone can get the proper perspective in the event there are still some riders who don't believe in riding with All The Gear All The Time

I guarantee everyone, I would not have my right elbow, and possibly my right knee cap as it took some pounding as well if I had not been riding with the correct pants and jacket lined with armour. Hate to say it folks, but jeans would have been useless.

I had to rely on my gear tonight - Yamaha FZ6 Forums - International FZ6 Motorcycle Community Forum

Sorry to hear about the mishap Kenny, but it seems as if you did OK considering the circumstances. Have you figured out what was the primary cause of you losing traction?

Rain can be a mofo. Especially if it was a light drizzle after a long period of nothing.

Perfect example of why we need to wear our gear all the time. Glad to see you walked away with such minor injuries. Can you image how one of these guys who roll around in shorts and a tank top would have faired?

I'm convinced that it just didn't rain enough to get rid of the oil and dirt. The water lifted all that slick stuff to the top and there just wasn't enough rainfall to wash it away. The road was dry and appeared fine. Now I have to pay more attention to dry roadways as well when it rains.

Air Mesh Kevlar by Motoport. $700 custom made gear. Got scuffed up a bit, with one small hole. I'm convinced that the right side of my pants went along with the 20-30 foot slide. But I didn't feel a thing. Not even any heat from the friiction. It has ten times more abrasion strength than leather. It has a lifetime guarantee so I can get it fixed if I choose to send it back for repair.

Unlike my cheap air mesh textile jacket which pretty much disentigrated. I could feel the heat generating while I was sliding. And part of it melted into my skin. But don't get me wrong, the jacket did it's job. But I know there are better quality ones out their.

Gloves, Helmet, boots did not come into play.

Nice bounce back thanks to the GEAR. I did he same thing on a GS 750E back in the day. Still dont know what happened...dry pavement, good tires,I simply lost the ass end of the bike and slid with it. lether jacket, levis, gloves,helmet,hi-top sneakers. Bumps, bruises, scrapes and embarrasment.
