PHOENIX - Five people have been hospitalized after a motorized bike vs. car crash in north Phoenix.

It happened just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of 21st Ave and Bell Road. A car carrying a family of four was heading eastbound on Bell when a moped crossed in front and was struck.

Phoenix Fire says the rider landed on the hood and rode for about 100 yards until the car crashed into a short brick wall, and the rider was thrown to the ground.

The 49-year-old rider suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital.

A 32-year-old man, 26-year-old woman, 8-year-old child and 5-year-old child suffered serious injuries.

Police are investigating to see who was at fault.
