Just a little public service announcement for the SCS crew. Most of my posting, as you know, is confined over at 702SB board. But frankly, I service the legal needs of the entire Vegas valley riding community. Handling tickets for free for all Valley riders, and reduced fees for their accident cases regardless of club affiliation or not. In any event, I've found over the years that motorcyclists in Las Vegas do not carry enough insurance to protect themselves in accidents. Too many times I meet with injured riders (or their families) only to find out minimum coverages were in place. And then, the injured rider has to deal with both his/her physical injuries and thousands (or tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands, and in a couple of cases I know of, millions) of dollars worth of medical/rehabilitation expenses; and no where to turn. To that end, I put together a little public service announcement thread about insurance coverage and their meanings.

This link will send you over to my original post at 702SB. I stickied the post over at 702SB called it “Motorcycle (and auto) insurance, and you!”

Feel free to sticky a hyperlink back to 702SB, here at SCS so your members can educate themselves about this topic (or not, I wouldn’t presume to dictate to any MC, just letting you know that it's cool with me if you so choose). I'm able to modify and update the thread at the 702SB site because of my moderator status, so it makes it easy for me to keep it updated. In any event, I just thought it is an important topic for motorcyclists to address, given the number of underinsured motorcycle accident cases I see on a weekly basis.

If you don't have Liability Coverage of at least 250k/500k/100k and Uninsured Motorist / Under Insured Motorist coverage you need to read this. Great info MotoVegas!

Honestly, I haven't found any one of them to be "better" than another when handling claims; which is when it really matters. However, I do find it somewhat easier to deal with national carriers rather than those small local, or regional carriers.

Getting the most coverage (UM/UIM and medpay as high as you can afford is the most important point I can make) you can is probably the best sagely advice I can give; because regardless of which one ends up being your insurer, there is typically some sort of fight when trying to squeeze everything you're entitled to out of them when the time comes.
