I Ride: 08 MV Agusta Brutale 910S
hey guys and gals,

dropping in to say hi, again. finally moved to the LV about 5 days ago (after like 2 years of anticipating it).

Just a few questions in terms of registering the bikes. I have my brutie, My wife has her Superchicken, and I also have a host of Colorado titled and plated dirtbikes. When i go to register, i know they will do a Vin search due to out of state titles, but do I need to bring the actual bikes with me or do I just bring the paperwork?

Also, what can I expect insurance wise? any other transplants have any idea? I have my colorado insurance still going and im sure it will increase once i switch it to NV, but would be nice to anticipate the difference.

thats all for now but look forward to hangin with some of ya.

- Justin

Hey another Coloradian. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver spent 23 years in CO. As far as your questions, yes your insurance will go up. I didn't bring a bike with me when I moved here so I'm not 100% sure, but as far as cars go, you'll have to have a VIN verification done at the DMV which is no big deal (and smog test for cars/trucks). I'm sure bikes are the same (except for emissions). You'll have to surrender your CO plates to the DMV as well.

Welcome, I'm actually hoping to be moving back to Denver next spring....5 years here is enough of Vegas for me!

yeah i have noticed a lot of denver transplants... not sure why. The power company lady even commented on it.

I think we are going to like LV. I was so sick of the erratic weather in colorado. I realize there arent a lot of twisties around here for the streetbikes, but straight roads in warm weather are better than lots of twisties in snow. lol. Plus, were big into the dirt stuff too, we have a handfull of dirtbikes and quads so I think this will work out nicely.

I cant seem to get an answer from state farm (at least in any kind of reasonable time) as to the rates so I think im just trying to prepare myself there.

Yeah I've met a lot of people from CO...I think it's because it's fairly close, the weather is warmer but it's not as expensive as moving to CA. One of the same reasons I moved...I got sick of the winters after that many years. But now I'm kind of missing it. You moved at the right time....this summer has been pretty mild temp wise and it's actually been raining a little. My first summer here (June '07) a week after I got here it was 117-121 ever day for almost 3 weeks straight and I didn't see rain or any couds for months, and being a noob from CO I was dying lol.

Call state farm and ask to speak to a Nevada agent and have a Vegas zip code handy. they should be able to tell you something I would think.

Oh yeah, just thought of something else. Be prepared for a little bit of a shock when you go to register all of your vehicles.....unlike CO, here they charge you by MSRP value...and not what you paid for it. it sucks, but theres no state income tax here so that helps.

Here's some info for new residents Nevada DMV New Resident Guide
and you can get an estimate on what it's going to cost you here https://dmvapp.nv.gov/dmv/vr/vr_esti...tioninput.aspx

Yeah I found that. At least there is a depreciation schedule involved there. Not too high compared to CO.

I just remember my car had fallen to a little less than $100 to re-register every year in CO, and I moved here and it jumped up over $300 to register it, and the next year it didn't drop all that much.......I hate moving.

Welcome and are you ready for the crazy Vegas traffic? The closer you get to the strip, the crazier it gets.

Be careful out here.

Jamie, my SO got her license and is going with me tomorrow for her truck and maybe the 2 dirt bikes and trailer too... gonna be a hefty bill for sure. My bike alone was $367!!!! $126 back in denver. BULLSH*T! oh well. gonna make that back on income tax and lower cost of living anyway.

ok so all the bikes are finally registered, fueled up and ready to roll... now just to find the time. Hoping to make TWT next week.

Anyone know of an MV Agusta dealer in town?
