I got bored sitting at home and with the awesome temps I decided to go for a ride around 8:30 tonight. I rode around for about 3 hours. A habit that my dad taught me when I first started riding on the streets oh 20 years or so ago was to always scan back and forth when coming up to an intersection and to expect some idiot to run a red light when you have the green so be prepared to stop or maneuver if needed, I always have done that for years. Well tonight I was on my way back home, riding up Sahara heading west, as I was approaching Durango I look left...then right and I see a car not slowing at all, I hit the brakes hard and this fucking moron flies through without even hitting their brakes........ I would of been dead or at least severely hurt if I wasn't paying attention. Just a reminder to always be looking out for yourself while riding and always expect cagers to be idiots and not looking out for you.

Wow, Glad your alright. Before I enter any intersection I always look and roll of the throttle a bit for precisely that reason. There are so many dumb-asses out there that just don't pay attention.

Great to hear you avoided a potential accident. And this is something I do even in my cage! I've seen dipshit drivers run lights on too many occasions.

Reminds me of a really bad joke: Dude's driving around with his friend one night. He runs red light after red light, his friend asks him why he's running the reds. The dude replies, "My brother always does it!". Dude stops at a green light. Friend asks why he's stopping at the green. Dude replies, "My brother might be driving through!"

Thanks everyone, I was quite angry last night when I wrote this...I was still shaking a little bit, this dude was going at least 50mph. It would have been ugly. Anyway ride safe out there......they really are trying to kill us, I'm convinced of it.

Well I'm glad you make it a habit of looking left and right every time you enter an intersection. I does pay off. Just because you have the green light does not guarantee safe passage, there will always be somebody taking away somebody else's right of way. Nobody should even be surprised that this happened. Honestly, how many accidents have you seen around an intersection? Happens every single day, multiple times. And don't forget to cover your controls, and adjust your speed and position if you need to when approaching an intersection too. Once again, knowing how, where and what to look pays off. That's the difference between a seasoned rider versus a new or weekend rider. Never assume.
