The Senate committee voted to back helmet law repeal, despite impassioned pleas by Sen. Mike Schneider, D-Las Vegas, who called SB177 "a jobs creation bill for the medical industry."

I'm actually all for a no helmet law. Modern medicine has really helped people it shouldn't, this may help thin the herd a little more. Plus it's good for my business!

Actually, maybe not. Unless you fly dead people too. They will most likely be dead on the seen rather than having a fighting chance with the medical professionals such as yourself.

We don't fly dead people! Usually on scene they are viable. I've seen them code on short final to the helipad a few times. All of the MC wrecks I've seen someone die have all been harleys.

So all these articles are from April, but I really dont see anything current on this issue. Most of the sites I looked at still show Nevada as being a helmet mandatory state.

Cool!! Now we can go to Red Rock and do a 100 with no helmet!! WooHoo!! That sounds like fun, your eyes water so bad you can't see and plus when I'm at a stoplight, all the chicks can see what a cool guy I really am. Hell, I might as well go with shorts and flip flops too.

That is a very chilling statement coming from a pilot who flies medical. I wonder if your statement is consistent with other pilots. So why is that? Is it because of the half helmets or the novelty helmets?

76th Nevada Legislative Session ended on June 7, 2011. Absent a special session, the next one fires up February 2013.

Really? I would have thought that the gear (jackets, pants, boots, gloves) wouldn't matter in actually saving life. It would hurt like hell and 90% of your body would be hamburger, but people Live through that. Or did you include helmets in gear?

SAR= Search And Rescue. NPS= National Park Service. And very rarely do I make it to the lake. Mostly on the AZ side.
My thought is the gear helps with reducing the amount of injury, reducing the risk of shock. The other part is the helmets they wear. Those little non-DOT helmets really do nothing to protect them. It's pretty gnarly sometimes.

Who'd they get to write this shit, " The helmet bill, SB 177, removes the helmet requirement for motorcycle drivers and passengers if they are at least 21 years old and the driver has held a license for a year or more and completed a safety course." You have to take a safety course before you can exercise the right to be unsafe? Dayum, our guvmint am dumb.

Correct. Bill died on the final day of the session. Note the "no further action taken". If they want this (or any other bill) to become law, they'd have to reintroduce and start over in a future session.

this would just give them reason to pull you over if you are NOT wearing a helmet to verify that you ARE 21, licensed for more than a year, and took the MSF... so sneaky
