Hey, will rain ruin a leather jacket? I wore my track jacket out today and I'm a little concerned. It hasn't gotten drenched, but will it deteriorate in the rain?

Yes or No answer, yes it will.

What's great about leather is it's abrasion strength! However, that depends on the quality of the cow that's why some leather is more expensive than others. This abrasion strength does weaken over time, and if it gets wet, this will contribute to it as well.

So if it starts to get old, or if has gone through some wet and dry cycles, yes, your leather is not going to hold up as well as it were new. But still will hold much better than most textile gear.

That is why I love my Kevlar Air Mesh Pants and gloves, I can just throw them in the wash or get the pressure washer out and I never have to worry about them weakening because they have gotten wet.

+1 to that. Just let it air dry and afterwards use some leather conditioner all over it. Plus, that will also help get the dead bugs off of it as well as conditioning the leather.
