Well it finally happened. On my way to work this morning around 4:45am at the intersection of slamming and boulder hwy. A ford suv dark in color ( black or dark blue). Me traveling west up flammingo, the suv heading south on boulder hwy. Any information will help.

Wait, so you got hit and then they ran????

ARE YOU OK??

Notify the police?? Some intersections have red light cameras and might have captured this..

Ya dude ran his red light and i was t boned. I have seen the cameras but don't know how to proceed, i have a case # so i guess i call metro. Unfortunatly i only had liability so the bike is a total loss. Going to try and pick the bike up from the towing company today or tomorrow. Im pretty beat up but no broken bones. Like i asked any information would be appreciated.

The detective handling your case would be the one to get the video surv. for the red light cameras. You should be able to call the # on your ticket and ask to speak with the substation/officer that took the report. They will have the info for who you need to speak with to get info on the case/updates etc.

Since you had liability only there isnt really anything you can do besides hope that you find who hit you, but then after that, you would need to take that person to court. $$$.

News 3 and Channel 8 both have the ability to post up your story. Send them the traffic incident report and detailed typed letter and ask for their help to see if they can run a piece of your story on the news to help locate the vehicle that hit you.

IF and or when they locate the person that hit you, then you should start looking for a lawyer to help sue the living shit out of this person.

Until then, its the waiting game.

I'm glad you're okay. How hard did he hit you? Have you been checked out by a doctor for any concussions or anything like that?

Its a good thing that you werent seriously injured.

However if you had been seriously injured, the person that hit you would be looking at a felony charge. You would have been entitled to compensation from the state's crime victim fund (the cops dont tell you this) and restitution from the offender in criminal court, plus you could sue his insurance company and him personally in civil court.

Even at the felony level the 'detectives' dont do much. At the misdemeanor level I'd expect them to not do much at all.

When I got hit, even though we knew who it was, the 'detectives' told me they just couldnt find the guy. My private investigator discovered that the guy was on probation for his 2nd felony and had been making his visits to his probation officer every month. We handed that info to the 'detectives' and said, think you can find him now? Finaly, 10 months after the accident, they arrested him for the hit & run causing serious injuries on me, his 3rd felony. I doubt they would have done anything had I not become a literal pain in their ass that just wouldnt go away until they did do something.

Guess what he got sentenced to in criminal court for this? Two more years added to his probation.

I'm sorry you were in an accident, but... dont expect much from Metro or the criminal courts.

All geared up, right? Bruises, scratches, road rash? How bad was it?

Damn bro, glad your ok. Superman for 40 yards and no broken bones, I would say someone was looking over you this morning. Like Arson said, take the right step and try to get some exposure like he said on either channel 8 or 13. This will really help out. It may even force the guy to come forward. Doubtful, but its worth a try.

That's total b.s.! Glad you're ok, and I hope they find the guy that did it. More than likely he's driving around with no insurance, and/or is in some sort of bankruptcy proceeding. Hopefully not though.

Wow... sorry to hear about this Junior. And Arson gave some great info. Any pictures of the accident site or bike? And did you visit the ER? You really need to get checked out after these type of accidents. (for physical and legal purposes)

First of all, I'm glad to hear that you were not seriously hurt, and you were damn lucky. Most likely it was a drunk driver around 4:45 am.

But at that time, traffic has to be pretty light. Remember, just because you have the green doesn't mean it's going to be free and clear.. Always assume that your right of way will be taken away, especially around intersections.

Ride like your invisible.

this kind of thing pisses me off so much. Firstly glad you are ok, for real. Could have been MUCH worse.

But the fact that someone can do something like that and then just drive off. As far as they know, you laying there dead in the street. Good thing you didnt get a better description cuz if i found pieces of shit like this, i'd kill em - or at least would want to. but thats just me.

how did they hit you? stright on t-bone? clip your front/rear? ect? You got someone lookin out for you, thats for damn sure.

Thanks to Matt for reminding me ( at the meet up @ checker cheesseburger )that's what the gear is for. I did take a trip to the er and had the cat scan as well as a but full of xrays, all checked out, good to go. I can't just accept the loss, i will pursue this as far as i can.

Make sure you call a lawyer. Right now you need to heal up but most importantly, I recommend writing everything down. Ay detail you can think of. The weather, the road conditions, the bird sitting on top of the traffic light, etc. This way 3 or 4 months from now you can go over all you notes and recall everything. This also proves diligence on your part and can go along way in court.

So i havent been able to spring my bike from jail yet. It seems that metro has put a hold on the bike. The auto theft division seems to think my bikes vin # has been altered. I asked the detective why does he think this, after all my bike passed vehicle inspection at the dmv and then registered it and have been driving it since febuary? He said " i have a feeling ". At witch case i will be responsiable for all storage fees if and when this is resolved. Granted the chrome job on the frame was done incorrectly, meaning they ( previous owner) had removed the tag on the left side of the bike. Now the #'s on the stealing head of the bike dmv match the vin # on the title. So i ask you what the hell can i do to convince this detective that its not stolen so i can get my bike back before the storage fees are so high i can't aford to get it out?

I don't know the rule on this... I would hope that since they are holding it then they will pay or waive the impound fees... or you better lawyer up and get your bike out quickly.

I think there is a way to get a stolen/salvage title for a bike. You must get the COMPLETE info from the dmv. It requires you to post up an ad in the paper for 2 weeks with photo of the bike. Proving you tried to find the owner, there are some other details you must follow.
