Just read this. Very sad to lose a young talent like him. Marco Simoncelli, 24, dies after crash in MotoGP Malaysian race - ESPN

Wow...he came out of NO WHERE. Plus, it's strange that his helmet came off. Gotta wonder if he had it fastened properly or not. That's the first time I've seen a helmet come off in a crash. Not saying it can't happen, but it just seems odd to me.

RIP bro..

Oh no. That is horrible. I really liked watching Marco, his riding style may have pissed off a few other riders, but he was great none the less.

Just watched the video. They were not kidding, the crash is horrible. The video can be found with a simple google search if anybody would like to see it. I'm not posting it on here.

Yeah I saw it but didn't want to post it. You have to feel bad for Colin Edwards for the way that happened.

This sucks. R.I.P. bro!!! Marco was quite the personality among MotoGP racers. His riding style, his attitude, all lended themselves to who he was and what he brought to th track. He was very talented and was just starting to become competitive. Sounds like I knew the guy which I didn't but I just follow MotoGP pretty close and this really really sucks!

That's insane. R.I.P.

What was his riding style? And why did it piss people off?

The easiest way to put it is that if there wasn't any room to pass, he would make room. Whether using his legs or elbows, he would make room. This lead to a lot of crashes but he was successful with his aggressiveness.

Such a tragic loss. I think every riders understands the inherent danger in racer. That doesn't make it easier.

Anybody else record the race on Speed Channel? Right after the crash the camera pans down to show his girlfriend. Sad stuff.
