You can take that road all the way up past Pahrump where it hooks up with 95N about 20 miles south of Amargosa Valley. So I'm guessing 160 will take you about 60-65 miles past the fire station where you stopped.

There's gas in Pahrump, but you may want to take a detour off to Shoshone and/or hit up Death Valley. Check the Group Rides forum soon... we may be posting a ride out that way.

The road you took (160) we locals call "The Summit". Redrock Canyon is on Highway 159 between 160(blue Diamond Road) and Charleston Rd.

There's a Red Rock Canyon road?!

I actually always thought that when you guys rode Red Rock, that you meant you only rode the 13 (or is it 12?) mile loop. Damn.... Oooops! I guess I need to get out more. LOL

There isn't a Red Rock Canyon road, I believe Julian was trying to distinguish between the road that goes past Red Rock Canyon (SR159) and the road that goes through the summit and on to Pahrump. (SR160) The Scenic Loop is what people are referring to when they talk about riding Red Rock.
