Poor guy failed to negotiate the bend and the bike finished up sliding into a drain for stormwater runoff. The rider bailed early and was O.K. This road is very popular with the local bike riding community and I'm glad to report that not one single rider passed without stopping to offer assistance (I know that because we arrived first). Short story was there was soon enough people to lift the bike from the drain back onto the side of the road. It wasn't pretty (sticks through the rims to provide lifting points) but all care was taken to minimize any further damage. Hats off to the others who pulled over to help, it was refreshing to see.
