Hey all,

I was going through eBay because I'm considering trying to pick up a PC III for my '02 Gixx 750.

However, I have seen a few PCIII's, but more so I see a lot of PCIII USB's. Is there a difference between the two except that one uses a USB cable to connect to the computer vs. a serial cable? If that's the only difference, then a USB would work fine...but if there is another difference, I'd like to know what it is. I've checked Power Commander's website and they only list the PCIII USB for my bike, but I know of people that have the PCIII for my bike and it works fine...I just feel that the USB is their newest unit and that's why they don't list the straight PCIII any longer. :(

So, if anyone has any info on this, I would appreciate hearing about it. I definitely don't want to try and get a deal off eBay and find out I can't use it on my bike. :(

Thanks!

Get the USB version.. That way you have a little flexability in loading maps yourself until you get it custom mapped..

I thought you could load the maps anyway, even on the PCIII? (plus I have a bid on a PCIII LOL)

I have a serial cable here anyway, so that's why I figured it would be no biggie. I even already downloaded the software and maps from PC...at least until I can pay to get a custom map done.

680...the one over there is for a CBR...big difference. LOL

Well, I was hoping to pick one up for $150 or less...so if that eliminates the USB version, then I don't care. Seems like the USB version is like $300...the hell with that. It's not that important to me right now.

One of my bids I forgot to check in on at the last minute and missed it by $5.00 and today the guy went over $175 so I let him have it.

So, the search goes on, I guess. I even checked craig's List but found nothing. :( So, I guess eBay is the only place to look...oh joy. LOL

Plus, I sent an email to DJ to check and see what years/models can use the same PCIII as my 02 Gixx 750. This way when I search eBay, I can eliminate all the ones that won't work for sure.

No response from them yet. :(

Got an email from DJ....

They said the 2002 600, 2002 750 and the 2001-2002 1k all use the same PCIII (just different maps, of course), so at least that should widen my search a bit.

Is $150-$175 way out of the realm of getting a good used PCIII? I reallllly don't feel like paying $200 for one, but I guess if I have to I have to, but I was hoping for $150 or lower
