Suspicious package appeared to have been a motorcycle wheel lock, which is then blown up.

Police have re-opened a stretch of Pacific Cost Highway in Torrance after closing it down for nearly four hours while they investigated a suspicous package.

Sheriff’s bomb squad officers examined the black and yellow object and then blew it up.

It appeared to be a XENA motorcycle wheel lock.

Pacific Coast Highway between Hawthorne Boulevard and Anza Avenue was shut down soon after police received a call at 7:01 a.m. to report the suspicious package, according to officer Dave Crespin.

The item was found on a newspaper stand in front of the McDonald’s at 3880 Pacific Coast Highway, Crespin said.
