I Ride: a jet
Today I went to Best Buy to grab the Transformers DVD and noticed the HD ones sitting there as well. Was curious how much a HD-DVD player was so I went and looked around... about $500 for a decent one.. not too bad really but more than I wanted to spend.

Cruising back to the registers I walked thru the Xbox 360 section, and noticed the 360 HD-DVD player has dropped to $179, comes with the 360 remote and the King Kong HD-DVD... hmm not bad since I already have a 360. I had the guy get one out of the case for me, and went to checkout.

At the register, it spits out my receipt and a rebate form. But its not really a rebate where you send it in and wait for a check that comes 3 months later. Its a form you send in to get 5 free HD-DVD movies. So for $179, you get the HD-DVD player, the Xbox remote (which is pretty cool) and a total of 6 free HD-DVD movies... King Kong which is in the box with the player, and you get to pick 5 more. Thats a killer deal.

So if your TV has a VGA input, you can play the movies from the 360 at 1080p resolution, best video quality I've seen. If you just have component video inputs, it plays at 1080i which is still damn good quality. I popped in the King Kong DVD and just sat there, mesmerized. Then I popped in my non-HD Spiderman DVD in widescreen format.. holy shit this thing upscales regular DVD to the higher resolutions. It wasnt in HD quality but looked much better than a regular DVD player.

Just wanted to let the other Xbox 360 owners know about the killer deal on the HD video players thats going on right now

So right now I'm going to hook up my Bose surround system, doesnt seem right to watch transformers in HD without surround sound. I probably wont be leaving the house much for the next couple of months

Sounds awesome to me. Where can you get a VGA adapter for the 360?

HDMI cable is not an option for the first gen 360.... But I did get this deal back in July when they initially dropped the price.. Yup $179 plus 5 HD DVD's is a steal. Def worth the money...

I got mine at Best Buy.

When you plug it in the xbox recognizes it as VGA and gives you choices of different resolutions just like your computer does.
