Well if you have been watching the news you know the 250,000 people have been evacuated from the fires in so cal. Well Susan, my son and I account for 3 off the 250,000.

We got word around 4 p.m. yesterday that we might have to leave the house. I really can not exlpain the feeling of looking around the garage and thinking what was important, what do I take, what gets left behind. All of our stuff was boxed up as we were waiting to move to a new house, so we had to think of things that might be in the boxes and try to find them.

We got a few personal things or just as much as we could fit in the car.

CHP came by and we got the mandatory evac notice around 7.45 by 8 we were on the road.

Susan drove the car, my 13 year old son drove my truck and I road one of my motorcycles, and we headed out.

When we left the house the fire was about 3/4 of a mile from our house and burning right towards it. There were no firefighters between it and the house. They could not control it....

This morning I heard on the radio that the fire burnt thru the area we were living in and we do not know if we have a house left.

So today I'm at my work as there is no place to go we crashed in the office area last night, and I have sent all of my employees home today.

I will post up some pic's of the fire and the trek out of Ramona last night.

So for now we are safe.

Dammit Stacy... I hope that there's still a house with all your stuff in it to go back to.
Its pretty nasty over here too... I'm within a few miles of the Irvine/Portola Hills fire.

I came home around 12:30 just n case there were evacs here. Fingers crossed for you bro.

That's terrible Stacy! I hope you guys are doing OK. I was out your way yesterday can could not believe the smoke and flames. I flew to Seattle today, and again, from the air it was amazing to see how much burning was happening.

My heart's with you guys during this very difficult time.

Sorry to hear about the house Stacy, just remember, although it's hard to lose the things we work so hard for, those can and will be replaced. I am glad that you and the family are safe, thats what matters above everything else. So your son got to drive your truck huh..At that age I'm guessing that was almost worth it for him.. Hope everything works out for you bro. Every time I want to move away from Vegas I get another good reason to stay.

Here's to hopin' you have a home to go back to. I was a wildland firefighter for 3 years. I've seen some pretty crazy fires. These ones look pretty bad due to all the wind.

Just some pictures of what has happened since Sunday.

From the Radio we may be able to get back into see if we still have a house a little later today depends on the wind.

Our house prior to the fire with a little smoke in the back ground

http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=IMG_1974.jpg

The fire a few canyons away from our house

http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=IMG_2012.jpg

The fire just down the street from our house as we were leaving. As we left some ash and hot embers were in the air. This is the corner about 3/4 of a mile from my house. When we left there were no fire fighters between my house and the fire. From the time the fire topped the ridge until it got to the bottom was about 15 min. We did not see any heading that way.

http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=IMG_2098.jpg

Traffic running down both lanes as we left it was bumper to bumper for 20 miles from Ramona to Santee it took about 5 hours to get from my house to the branch, most mornings it is 25 min drive.

http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=IMG_2104.jpg

The fire that you could see from the branch this morning 10/23 the pic is not very good but you can see the orange is the fire. When i took the picture I was standing at the airport fence on prospect.

We just was looking on another web site and it said that the fire may have burn right into the back yard but that the house was still standing, unknown about damage.

The po po are being pretty tight they will not let us back in and there is only three routes in and they have them all covered.

Hang up some air fresheners. The pine smell will go good with the campfire smell. Break out the sleeping bags and you'll be set.

Just kidding, glad to hear that your house was safe. As for the water, just go through a car wash naked on the bike. That'll get the stank off.
