i know this sounds kinda strange, seeing as how i dont know anyone on here. but i ride an 03 yam r1 that im thinkin about sellin for either an 05 or 06 gsxr1000 or same years cbr1000rr. however, ive never ridden one of those bikes. only zx10s and newer r1s. anyone on here wanna go out on a ride with me sometime, and we can trade bikes for a few minutes just so i can see if i like either of those bikes? ive been riding motorcycles for 12 years, and know what im doing. please? let me know. -sean

well, ive had it for 2 years. i love the bike, its beautiful, very fast and has monster torque down low. i guess you could say that ive gotten a little bored of the same bike and cant really afford to keep 2. wish i could. it was my first street bike and id love to keep it a long time. but i want to move on to something different, and the newer r1s fairings are gigantic and their power sucks. -sean

Then again, I ride a gen1 FZ1. But it's still everything I could want in a bike. I still want to take a gen2 FZ1 out for a spin, but I really doubt it could sway me away.

I dont have any of the newer crop of 1000's... I've got a 600 and a 1300 which both use pre-21st century tech. (which works well) But if I was looking at a 1000, besides finding the one that fits best (I'm 6'3"), I'd look at the all-new ZX-10R, CBR1000RR, and GSXR1000. (in that order) Check out the video review MustMoto posted, if you haven't already: http://www.scsportbikes.com/forum/sh...67&postcount=3 I believe the ZX-10R's traction control and slipper clutch would allow a non-Nicky Hayden level rider to extract the most out of the 160whp bike. I hope someone chimes in that can help you with checking out some different rides. I love bike shopping!

If you've already got an '03 R1, and want something different because you're bored with it, why look to get yet another inline 4 cylinder machine? Sure one has slightly more power than another, and this one might handle better than that one, but to the non professional rider, they're all pretty much the same bikes. If you really want to experience something different, then try out one of the few sport v-twins out there, or even check out a naked bike. Either of those two choices will be completely different from what you're used to.

This reminds me of the bumper sticker..... "Don't ask to ride my bike and I won't ask to screw your wife." LOL. If you still have it after the holidays, let me know. Looking for a sportbike and an R1 is one that I am looking at. Just waiting to see what finances are after the crazy season has ended. | |

I came from a 03 R1 and a 04 gix 1k, now have an 07 R1. While the low end torque of the 03 was phenominal (sp) The 07 is by far a superior bike. With a couple of the right mods it is anything but a slouch across the entire range. If your looking for another bike I would go with what turns you on in the looks department and what fits your body the best. The performance difference between the litre bikes is minimal.

yah, i know that the performance between them is minimal, not lookin for that. just wanna see how each rides, and yeah, john is right. i can afford a bike, have a pretty decent paying job, its just not the wisest decision to keep my r1 and buy a newer bike... thought about a sport naked. triumph speed triple is really bad ass, ive always loved those, and the ktm superduke, but the katoom still a little out of my price range. thinkin about converting my yz450 dirtbike into a street legal SuMo, but still up in the air on that one also. im kinda thinkin ill just buy a cbr1000rr and if i dont like it, sell it for a suzuki. its all still just ideas, but i do plan on buying a new bike soon. -sean b
