Check the Venetian. We have had several friends stay there and their rooms are very nice for the price.

Or for half the price you could stay at the Cannery Casino in NLV.

Yep... off strip properties are the best deals by far if you can live without all the mainstream attractions.

But I kinda like JWD's suggestion of the Mandalay Bay. You have the best of EVERYTHING right there on property. House of Blues, Forty-Duece, and an assload of good restaurants. The pool area is nice as well.

When I was working at the Orleans Hotel (off strip) they had regular shuttles to the strip so it wasnt much to get there. Of course that was before it was sold.

The Planet Hollywood Casino (formerly the Aladdin) had really nice bathrooms. The Golden Nugget is also a very cheap 5-star hotel. Off the Strip, the Red Rock Casino's rooms are to die for.

I agree with the Mandalay Bay census. Forty-Deuce is a fun club right in the Mandalay Bay, the pool is awesome, and Mandalay is also a pretty good location as far as traffic goes. It sits on the very south end of the strip and you can easily get to it off I-15 and Russell.
I've stayed in "The Hotel" at Mandalay Bay a couple times and the rooms are spectacular.
Like mentioned above, Red Rock is a nice hotel off the strip. So is Green Valley Ranch... and the rooms are awesome. The pool and restaurants and shopping at Green Valley Ranch are sweet also.
In the end, it all depends what your goals are for your vacation. If you want to stay on the strip, Mandalay Bay is the best I can think of for the bang for your buck. Obviously, there are more luxurious hotels like the Wynn or Venetian, but you will pay more.
