Top Stories Concepts hit test track Photo by Charlie Ribbens Published: Friday, March 24, 2006 Full-scale display models of two grand prix motorcycles created by students in professor Jesus Rojas Ache’s Motorcycle Design course spring quarter were unveiled at the Gulfstream Center for Furniture and Industrial Design March 13. The prototypes will travel with Red Bull, corporate sponsor of the project, to races around the world. Thirteen students began the process of designing the concept motorcycles 10 weeks ago with 130 separate sketches. The final designs are a result of the students focusing on ergonomically correct seat height and wheel distance. Following the sketching process, the students built clay models to preview the final products. The next stop is the AMA Superbike Championships at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala., April 21-23.

Cool swingarm! And the front wheel assy looks pretty trick to say the least. Good to see some futuristic concepts out there.

Very Sexy IMO.... I always thought hubless wheels would never work on sportbikes due to the lack of centrif force.. I always thought that made a big diff in handlng charactersitics..... Maybe I am thinking too deeply into this.... | |
