A couple months late, but thought i'de post up a few pictures from my Cali trip in late June. It was AWESOME riding. Wish I had the Busa, but it was even fun on the BMW tanker... I left Vegas and headed north to try and avoid crossing Death Valley in peak heat. I took the 95 to North of Beatty and took the 168 heading west. The 168 is AWESOME and you should all mark it down as a MUST RIDE. Curvey once you get into it and some incredible scenery. In fact, it goes to one lane for a short while between the mountains. Just amazing. I was hitting it pretty hard on the BMW, and almost lost it big time on an off-camber curve (would have been easy on a sport bike). Still it was a blast. I took the 395 North and stayed the night at the El Rancho motel in Bishop. Great little place with some kind ederly folks running the joint. Here'z a pic. [attachment deleted by admin] |

The pass over Yosemite was closed, and they said it would be closed until JULY due to heavy snow. So, I went North to Sonora Pass, WHAT A TREAT! Totally curvey and amazing scenery... [attachment deleted by admin] |

San Fran was great, did Alcatraz, Fisherman's Warf, Golden Gate, etc. But Yosemite with the snow melt was incredible. [attachment deleted by admin] |

One last picture of Sequoia... I wish I had taken some pictures of the road that leads out of Sequoia to the South. It will BLOW your mind. Probably 10 miles of switchback hairpins. I was wishing I was on a sportbike, but the BMW did me good... You guys should REALLY consider this route sometime. Very much worth the rump sores from the miles and miles of killer scenery. Took the ride in late June of this year. While riding, I was thinking "this is the best ride ever". The only one that even came close, in my mind, was the twists and turns of the Malibu area followed by the ride to Laguna Seca on highway 1. You guys should plan a ride like this one, it is very fun and memorable. I would have prefered a sportbike, but there is no way I would want to trailer there, then ride. I am back to thinking a Busa or FJR may be in my future, and not the BMW... |
