OK so I now want to get an OGK helmet thanks to LV 01 1K.* He listed a site ( http://www.ogk-helmet.com/html/index.htm* ) in which you could get the helmet shipped to you for $215!* So I look at the site and and wonder if anybody else sells the OGK brand of helmets so I can see if there are any other colors.* Well I find the helmet I want to buy:
The helmet is the exact one shown in the link below:
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/ogk/ff4/

I want the helmet in that exact color.* Well I email the people at the website LV 01 1K gave me and they dont stock that helmet nor do they have any way to get it.* So I think to myself "oh well I can always find another dealer"*

So I find another dealer at www.ogk-shop.com The helmet costs 210 Euros which is about $375.00 and it will cost 48 Euros to ship it making the total cost of the helmet $461.00

The next place I find is www.mandp.com* They have the helmet listed for 99 Euros which is only about $177.00, the only problem is that I have to email them to find out what the shipping will cost.* Well I started emailing them on Friday the 14th and emailed them 2 times a day with no response.* Well they finally emailed me back this morning twice and these are the two emails:

I would like to buy the helmet listed at the link below:

http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=217719

I need the helmet in a large and I just need to know how much shipping would
be to the United States before I purchase the helmet.
Thanks,
Buck

Hi, the shipping charge would be 30.00gbp.
Best Regards
Alex Jenkins

Here is the second email on the same day...today

I would like to buy the OGK helmet at the link below:
http://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=217719

I need the helmet in a Large.* I just want to know how much it would be to
ship the helmet to the United States?*
Thanks,
Buck

Hi, the shipping charge would be 45.00gbp.

Best Regards
Alex Jenkins

As you can see, the shipping price varies just a little, but they would still be the lowest cost.* The only thing that bothers me is that it almost seems like a scam and since I am buying over seas I'm trying to be very careful.* I'm already very scared of them because it takes them so long to email me back.* If I buy the helmet from them and 2 weeks later my helmet still isnt here I'm gonna have a shit fit and probably not be able to get ahold of anybody.* I emailed another 2 companies who carry the helmet, but they have not emailed me back even though I've sent quite a few emails.* What do you guys think?

Fuck that, i'm going helmet crazy now. I already have my Shoei RF-1000 and a junk HJC, but I need a good helmet for the wife and with all the Vegas stories I see on here I need all the protection I can get.

Okay. Seriously then....

School me here. I'm only 44 and only been riding for 26 years, with 300K+ street miles, so..what do I know???*

How can someone just buy a lid over the net, without having prior knowledge to it's fit, form and function?? You spend XXX on a helmet and HOPE it fits, and works??

The RF1K works bomb for me, but, I had many years prior Shoei knowledge, including the evolution from the 700, 800 and 900.....finally into the 1000. However, I STILL wore a RF1K around Cycle Gear for over an hour before I made a purchase.

School me???*

Here is a nice little fact for you. Nobody in the entire state of Kansas stocks Shoei helmets, so how do you think I had to buy my RF-1000? When your state has no helmet laws, people will not spend lots of $$$ for a helmet, thus you see lots of cheap helmets which most of the time come with the bike. I just try and make sure I buy from a dealer that has a good return policy so if I dont like the helmet I can return it which I had to do with the Shoei helmet I bought and I exchanged it for a smaller size which fit perfectly. I really hate to buy a helmet like this, but its gonna be a backup helmet anyways.

Update. I also emailed the www.mandp.com company on ebay and they finally got back to me:

The item number for the large is 4630717567.
The postage will be approximately 35.00

MandP

So now they have quoted me 3 prices:
35 euros
45 euros
35 euros
in that exact order organized by time stamps. I guess I'll go with 35 euros wich makes the helmet $240.00

So essentially you're just hoping that the helmet you order fits? It would be a royal pain in the ass to have to send a helmet back to the UK for a different size. And I'm betting that if it is the wrong size, then you'll end up paying the cost of shipping. ($$$) Then again, you could always Ebay the helmet if it doesn't fit and most likely make a buck on the deal.

BTW, I did the same thing as Gleno...wore the RF1K around Cycle Gear for a while to check the fit. Then I went to Cycle Shop and got a smokin' deal from Jorge.

I also hate to tell you, you best check your calculations again. That is British Pounds and not Euros...there is an actual difference. British Pounds used to be more than the Euro, so I would triple check your figures just to be ABSOLUTELY sure. For Euros, it generally looks like an E by the price. For British Pounds it usually looks like a cursive L as you have listed above. Just trying to help you out cuz I'd hate for you to think the exchange rate is like 1.1 dollars per Euro and it's really like 1.6 or 1.7 dollars per British Pound and then you shit yourself. LOL

When I was checking RF1k's for fit, I'm glad I went to Cycle Gear to try them on because I went from a Medium helmet (my old Shoei) to a Large. Plus, each manufacturer's fitting is different, as I'm sure you know. I currently have a KBC and actually hate the helmet (maybe because it's now too small cuz it's a Medium), but I don't have the money to buy another Shoei yet, so I'm stuck dealin' with it. If I could find a SECURE way to go with the OGK deal, I would consider it due to the fact that I can order a Large for $219 shipped.

Good luck with it bro.

sorry, I ment to say gbp instead of euro.

Anyways, the helmet is on the way. Final price with shipping was $240. Don't get me wrong guys, I hate to order a helmet this way, but its only gonna be used as a backup helmet. I'm the type of person that if I wreck, regardless of what my primary helmet looks like i'm gonna get rid of it and get a new one and it would be nice to have a backup helmet for the time inbetween. Plus if the wife wants to go for a ride I can always pull that out. As far as i'm concerned, wearing a helmet is always better than nothing at all even if it isnt the perfect fit. Shit I live in a place where people make fun of you for wearing a helmet. Hell I had people tell me I was a fuckin idiot for buying a $400 Shoei helmet. Needless to say i'm ready to get the fuck out of here and actually ride with a safe group of people.
