Well the POS Compaq is getting ready to shit itself. It's almost five years old and the keyboard is a motherfucker to type on...it doesn't respond to inputs and yes I cleaned all the cum out. The screen just goes blank for no apparant reason and it is lagging really shitty lately. Internet connection is shit with cable modem. BTW it is a laptop and I'm looking at getting a new one.

So, in my experience fuck Compaq and fuck IBM. I'm going to go with a Dell this time and was looking at the 1505 and 1705 series notebooks. Can anyone tell me what the difference between the Pentium Solo processor and the Dual processor is? It's not like I'm using this thing to navigate Cruise missles with I just need something to find porn and fast, sort pictures and do all that shit associated with them, download music for an Ipod, download a shit-ton of porn, and maybe let Angie on once in awhile to pay the bills. Any suggestions? Am I looking at too much of a computer for my basic needs?

well a solo processor is more like a conventional ibm/pc based computer. a dual processor is more like a mac. the nice thing about dual processors is that they share the load created when generating large files, downloads, or video. many graphic artists prefer the macs for that exact reason. you tend to get alot less "lag" in other programs while running another big process.

ooooooooooo nicky..... my little geek man! I never knew!!

Hey.... I just got the XPS M140 Dell about 3 months ago. LOVE IT! This will be the 14th dell computer I have purchased over the last 5 years and everyone of them have been worry free (up until the screen went out on my last lappy, but it was a cheap part, easy fix) and now its new daddy is Gleno! Anyway, between all of the lappys and desktops, I have had little probs. I do think if possible, its really a better deal to get a least a mid-grade model. The base models are okay, but if you ever wanna expand the system with so much crap built into the motherboard, its almost impossible.

Well what ever you choose, make sure you check out the coupons in the Great Deals section here.

I update them every week with new dell coupons. Plus, if you click on one of our links before you order, the club will get a rediculously small commission on your purchase, but hey, it all ads up for the next mini grand prix or sumthin!!

In the mean time bro you may want to look at your internet settings.

Clear out you cookies, temporary internet folder, and set the size for you Temp Internet files to 0 or as small as you can. Also make it so you do NOT save your pages when you log off. You would be surprised how slow it will make you computer if you do not do this.

Also have you defragmented your HD lately? Look at your accessories under your start menu >program files>Accsessories>and choose disk defragmentor. Have it analyze the drive first. If you see alot of RED lines then you prob. need it. That will also help alot.

Good Luck,

Call me if you got ?'s

uhhhh.....hmmmm.... naw I got all that down except what do you mean by not saving pages? BTW I never log off. I just let the thing go into standyby most of the time.

Thanks for all the other inputs from everyone else. I'll look into the coupins but I can go through the base and get a really good deal with free shipping.

yeah that could vbe part of the problem. you have to shut the comp off atleast once a week. every system has something called "virtual memory". its a log of every action the system makes for hte entire time that its powered up. its considered an eprom part and its erased everytime you shut the computer off. if its not cleared it will back everything up.
