Is there a time frame for painting the Base and the Clear.. Do they have to be done within a certain time of one another??

ideally, clear should be sprayed right after you spray your last coast of base. say you're doing 3 coats of base, spray 1st coat, let flash 20mins, spray 2nd coat, let flash 20mins, spray 3rd coat, let flash 20mins, spray 1st coat of clear. depending on the paint, no more than 24hrs between final base and first clear coat.

Is it necessary to wet/dry sand inbetween base coats? Recommended or no as long as there are no imperfections? What about sanding inbetween clear coats? Same thing as base coats? I guess what I am trying to sum up in this thread is like a timeline of things to do from primer to finish. For example...

1st base coat
sand
2nd base coat
sand
3rd base coat
sand
1st clear coat
sand
2nd clear coat
sand
3rd clear coat
sand
polishing steps yadda yadda

Knowadda mean?

you shouldn't have to sand anything after spraying your final coat of primer. use a tack cloth to remove any dirt/debris on the freshly painted surface before you apply another coat but other that's about it.

Man, you guys make it all technical and stuff. I just sanded over my old paint job, and bought a couple cans of spray paint. It turned out alright, but I wish I would have seen all this before I did it. Maybe my fairings wouldn't be two shades of blue

Any chance that Ali's pictures can be reposted or is this thread just too old?

Ali - if you still have the pics, can you repost them for me?
