Guy sold me a 50 series, my bike stock came with a 55. I realize its not much of a difference, but what's your guys opinion on this?

The profile of the tire, 55 Is taller then a 50, which will give you more of a contact patch leaded over and it's easier to flip side to side.

If you already got the 50, keep it.

If given a choice, 55 is a hair better...
It is slightly taller, thus giving you a slightly steeper rake angle, and lower trail.
(due to the tire being slightly taller, and raising the rear of the bike up a bit)

This means it will be a hair twitchier when turning.
