I Ride: 2001 yamaha champions edition R6
Alright need some moto advice...... I have an 01 r6 c.l.e. with about 7800 miles on it. What I'm thinking of gettting done is something like a complete combing over from stem to stern. The bike is low miles but 5 yrs old now. They only thing it has as performance upgrades is a k&n and a gytr slip on. the rest is stock. I want to take it somewhere to get a really good once over. Last fall I did a fuel filter, k&n, l.o.f. w/ castrol superbike synthetic, and drained coolant added water wetter and distilled. I got the bike in dec '03 with 3100 miles on the clock. to my knowledge nothing else has been done to the bike. Still has original chain & sprokets,....well everything except tires which I replaced front and rear almost 2 yrs ago @ 4307 miles. Im not a corner carver yet and the meats look ok for now. Yamaha I think says I have till 15k for valve adj. but I would really like to have a pro scrutinize the bike a give me a run down on what it NEEDS not what they want to sell. If it was ya'lls bike what would you have done to it? By the way....slip on k&n, do the carbs need rejetted....bike seems to have a flat spot 3500-5500. I do believe the bike came from n.carolina(not 100%). I like to do my own work but limited tools and know how prevent a complete going over. Thanks for any input!

SOunds lik a job for Super Dave.. Try contacting Sinfulf4i and see if he is willing and avail for this work.. Real stand up guy, and he is in most cases willing to help a guy/gal out...

Plugs
Fluids
Inspect/replace brake lines/pads
Checking valves isn't a bad idea
thorough chain/sprocket inspection
Bearings Wheel/head

That is all I can think of right now..
