i have been getting a slight hesitation at 12500rpms+. anything below that, the bike has good power. according to dyno charts from magazines, power peaks at around 12000rpms any ways but should that drop in power after peak HP be felt ? it just bothers me a bit. any suggestions? bike is a 97 zx6r, use 91 octane, redline is 14000rpms |

I don't have a manual myself. How often should a fuel filter be replaced. I have a 03 954rr with 12,350 miles.

There are two fuel filters in most bikes that have petcocks. One in the tank and another 'inline' fuel filter. The inline filter is easy to replace once you have identified where it is on the bike. Most fuel filters have an arrow on the outside of them to indicate the fuel flow direction. The head of the arrow should connect to the carb/intakes. Tip: (if it has a petcock) Run the bike with the gas turned off for a minute but do not let it run out of gas; just enough to exit the filter. This way you don't get fuel all over the ground. In this instance (from the first post) I would do general maintenance on your bike first before going to any extremes. Replace: 1. Fuel Filter 2. Air Filter (Or just clean it if it's a K&N or equiv) 3. Spark Plugs (Remember to gap them and index them for best power and burn) 4. Fuel System Cleaner through one tank with a tiny bit of Octane booster (Octane burns slower) Clean: 1. Air Intake Systems; Bugs, debris and dust hinders good air flow 2. Points (You can get an electronics parts cleaner at Fry's for about 2 bux) Hope this helps.
