OK, I've been contemplating going to Laguna Seca for the MotoGP races ever since they came back to the States. Now, I'd like to make this happen.

Who would be seriously interested in doing this ride? Here are some of the particulars:

Dates: July 22nd -24th (we would probably need at least a day on either end of these dates for travel time)
Distance: approximately 500 miles (to Monterrey, CA)
Cost: approximately $1K (gas, food, lodging, tickets, incidentals)

Here's the site where tickets can be purchased. I used the $185 Turn 4 tickets with motorcycle parking to estimate costs.

MotoGP Tickets from Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

And here's some hotels in the area:

Let's hear your thoughts on this... whether you're down or not, let me know what you think!

Yep... I thought the motorcycle parking would be cool. I heard getting a cage in/out of there is madness.

One of the good things about this is that we can plan to pay thing in stages... tickets first, then lodging, etc...

Lisa and I are going to try and go. We have a time share near the track that we'll use. Not sure right now being as she's jobless.

Well depending on how things turn out, we may try to get a large room if people are interested in staying with us.

Nice... I'm going to start keeping a list of "INs" in the original post.

Now we need to start seriously thinking of lodging. And do we want to check out Sunday or Monday? I'm down for getting a two bedroom suite like this one: (I hope the link works)

These rooms will fill up FAST, though. Let me know what you guys think. (I know Pat will probably want to stay in a four-star hotel with an in-room jacuzzi)

The thing with my timeshare would have a few rooms and be able to sleep 5-6 people no problem. The other thing is the cost will be WAY less than a hotel. Probably $100 per person total for the whole weekend.
